gagaisitalian 3,573
Many of her reactions at award shows become internet memes. Could that be counted as iconic?
Quark 7,085
Yeah, many people had that style of music before Gaga. But it wasn't until Gaga's Just Dance, Pokerface, Bad Romance ect. that almost everyone followed that style of electro/dance type of music. Disturbia came out in 08 while not true true EDM it's still very much part of that dancepop/electropop vibe of Just Dance and Poker Face. And you can't judge whether Rihanna will be remembered 25 years from now, but I think it's extremely likely given the nature of her constant hit songs and resonance with the GP. She is and will be iconic, and the stats support that. Your opinion may not.

Phoenix 17,395
Nothing iconic. Not even close. She had few hits, singles. That doesn't make you iconic. 💎
Mills 446
You can't measure iconic until much much later. Unfortunately Call Me Maybe will stand the test of time on radio, being used in commercials, etc. Many songs are like this-Funkytown, Thriller, the list is endless. The hits are hits and stand the test of time. The huger and bigger hits stand even higher. I think we're all deluding ourselves here if we're saying Rihanna hasn't done anything iconic yet she resonates the most with the General Public. Exactly. Discrediting any of her worldwide massive hits would be almost discrediting all the other smash hits of her contemporaries. The fact that she has the most chart-topping singles in two of the biggest music markets in the world (US and UK) among those female pop stars who came into the scene in the late 2000s would have already established her status as a pop icon. And what's a pop icon anyway? Isn't it the one who represents something? And if we've to regard someone who has resonated the most with the casual mainstream music fans (and other formats) in recent times, then it's without a doubt Rihanna. She has all the stats to back it up - from radio to sales to social media presence.

She sat on the chair and said only "The Rihanna hair" and the girl there just rolled her eyes and started cutting without any more explanations. Checkers 3,515
It's way too early to call Riri iconic, maybe after she's passed away or after she quits her career, then she could be called an icon.
