It's not one of my favorite songs, but Rihanna and her team have always been great at picking singles. I still think a lot of fans here and other places would suck at picking singles from albums because it's always their favorites vs. what will actually do well on the charts and radio. Just let her enjoy her next number one single and then worry about what the fourth single will be. I don't think she'll end with just three singles, plus it was obvious Right Now was gonna be a single now or later. its just lame and i thought she was going to be consistent this era. she was on point until now. if she was going to release a dance song she should've released jump instead, not only is it better just in general but its cooler. right now is lame as **** even for a dance song. why people like it is beyond me. its weak and poorly made. I still think a lot of fans here and other places would suck at picking singles from albums because it's always their favorites vs. what will actually do well on the charts and radio. actually other songs would also do well on radio. i dont dislike right now as a single just because i dont like it. its literally the weakest dance song shes ever made. its fit for jennifer lopez moreso than herself. its that weak. so for her team to even put that on the album let alone release it as a single is a poor decision in my opinion. will it do well? probably. shes at another commercial peak lately and this is indistinguishably dance-y enough to do fine just like 'turn me on' feat nicki minaj but its a poor song and a boring choice that has nothing significantly rihanna about it and shes been cooler than that for years at this point. to me right now sounds like something nicki minaj would've put on roman reloaded, its not even good enough for talk that talk or loud, it sounds like random 2013 dance pop song #25 that everyone likes just because it sounds like theyre supposed to. if she were to make an album of dance songs equivalent in quality/energy to her first 2 albums (which both contain a lot of indistinguishable flat faux-reggae pop songs) than right now would be on it. jump is generic enough and single worthy, right now should've been ignored just as it was on tour. (i'm sorry to Rihanna stans) But nothing on Unapologetic is even close to hitting that. unapologetic and rated r are her best albums imo so no right now is literally the one song on unapologetic that i despised and was dreading her to choose as a single. i dont like half of me or lost in paradise either actually...but i dont mind them and i like everything else and i like the mood of the album.
