No wonder, she is an european superstar and not well known in the US... In her homeland and big parts of europe she will smash

At least in Europe the only hit she had was 'Lush Life' and that was like a year ago, so this isn't really a surprise imo.

This is actually so sad :laughga: I think we can accept that she's not the new Gaga or Riri or Britney or whatever pop-star :sure:

I also only know Lush Life:toofunny:

but yes she seems to be bigger in Europe, at least singles wise. Her  new album entered the charts at #29 in our country, which isn't a smashing start either :emma:

Lush Life confuses me because it wa re-released here in the US right after Never Forget You peaked and even got a new mv just because of the re-release and everything looked promising from there but then it peaked at 75 on the hot 100 :rip: . Then Ain't My Fault came and it sounded promising as well as if she was trying to break in the US market (along with that mv) but then peaked at #76 :rip: .

US has a hard time recognizing real European talent I see :madge:

I get the fact that new artists really have to stick around for a while before releasing an album to ensure they build a fanbase who will buy it, but Zara's management did it all wrong. Instead of putting all these songs she's been releasing on an EP and then releasing the album with one or two singles preceding it, they decided to launch her as a purely singles artist in 2015 and not put her first album out until 2017. Stupid move. In the old days, you could have an artist circulating the charts with a bunch of singles in order to garner a fanbase and then put the album out a year later, but not anymore. Nowadays, you have to be quicker with album releases. Most artists drop a single and then the album appears a month later or so. Even the big names are doing that. They know that the public's attention span is so low that taking months and months to bring out an album post-lead single just makes people grow sick of waiting and lose interest.

Plus, Zara really hasn't been promoted enough to make people truly care about her. She doesn't have a unique look or sound, she's a dime a dozen in every way. I wish the industry would stop signing people like this or at least, sign them and nurture them until they can make an album that is actually worth a listen.

Well despite her huge exposure here in the UK it only reached #7. I don't understand why these labels just force new artists to produce generic hits then expect the album to sell. People never really seem to invest in albums like that. She doesn't really have any identity.

But she turned out to be really annoying despite seeming promising at first so idc :neyde:

So true, look at Calvin Harris. He makes generic music and his singles sell but his 18 Months album is the only one that's truly sold well and there's still no sign of his new album despite the 'lead' single (whether you consider that to be How Deep Is Your Love or This Is What You Came For) being released over a year ago and all the songs since being minor hits or completely flopping. The public tend to pass on buying an album full of generic songs that have already been hits. If you're going to release 5 singles before the album and they're all hits to some degree, what's the point in buying the entire thing? You'd be better off just streaming it, not paying for it.

And yeah, Zara has proven to be a bit nutty. She said some stuff about how she hates men, that it doesn't hurt men if she hates them and that man hating is her hobby. And she said it all while claiming to be a feminist. Stuff like that is seriously bad for the image of an artist who's trying to make a name for themselves, putting men and women off her. It officially ensured that I have no time for her.
