The best thing you could do at the moment to reduce suffering is go vegan, and influence others to follow you.

I'd prefer not to have to supplement crispy bacon or a medium rare steak with a B12 shot and other vitamin supplements.

This is beyond trolling. B12 shots updated? 40% of the population is B12 deficient, and only 1% is vegan, do the math. They aren't trying to 'scar' people, its about getting the truth out. So many people really believe these animals are living fine lives and die instantly and painlessly, obviously that's far from the truth and impossible even with the demand for meat and dairy products. As long as lab made meat is too expensive to be sold to the masses, there is no way to avoid animal abuse when you are buying an animal product.

I'm 100% serious.

We are not instinctive obligate carnivores. What makes humans so significant is that we have the ability to make choices, and we have the ability to empathize and survive on a vegan diet. Plus, dogs would still be lower on the food chain than us, so why not them? Pigs can be just as loyal and loving of pets, and are often more intelligent than most breeds of dogs. Same goes with cats.

Well considering beligium doesn't have many laws governing the treatment of animals, it makes sense that that the mistreatment of these pigs isn't taken into consideration. **** this factory and whomever is allowing that mistreatment to continue. Especially the man kicking and antagonizing that pig.

However, the slitting of their throats (while gruesome) is not mistreatment. They can't guarantee that every pig is going to get the perfect slice and lose blood quick enough to not suffer at all. It'd be great if every animal could die peacefully in their sleep, but introducing chemicals to the meat is dangerous from a food saftey point of view.

Videos like this are spliced together to make incidents from days, maybe even weeks of footage, seem like it's one after another, when it's most likely not super common world wide or maybe in this very own factory. (In this line of work, you can come across bad apples with workers).

Actually belgium does have these laws and lots of companys already turned away from the slaughterhouse.

The article mentions the went undercover for 1 month so yeah...

Do you even know what B12 is then? Or how you get it in your diet? When is the last time you had your blood work done to ensure you are getting enough? Because I get mine done regularly and I know I am not deficient because I eat a healthy diet and take supplements. Can you say the same? Can 40% of the population say the same? No.

Well that's exactly what you are doing, considering that bacon and steak has been injected with B12 and by the way, also has growth hormones in it...

You can't survive on a strict vegan diet, we need nutrients that is found in meat.

If you were in a survival situation, yea, you better hope you didn't get attached to Marley. Pig, dog, cat, squirl, it's all up for grabs if your life depended on it. Just because we have artificial vitamins doesn't mean we should suddenly stop eating meat.

What is a strict vegan diet? lol. And that's so strange I thought I was surviving? Strange that my doctor didn't tell me I was dying.......

If I was in a survival situation, when the f*ck would that happen? You take artificial vitamins every time you have meat or dairy, its all supplemented. So is all cereals, many drinks, etc....

I'm sensing your cognitive dissonance. Keep considering a trip to Wendy's for that Baconator.

Fast food like that is what causes obesity and even worse, heart disease; AKA the number one killer in the United States. Enough with the trolling. If you have nothing to maturely or logically debate then this isn't the thread for you.

I'm being completely mature, I don't know what you mean. If you don't like my opinions, I can let you get back to /r/vegan's echo chamber. I'm sure I pose a sharp threat to your veganism.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cognitive_dissonance

In psychology, cognitive dissonance is the mental stress (discomfort) experienced by a person who simultaneously holds two or more contradictory beliefs, ideas, or values; when performing an action that contradicts existing beliefs, ideas, or values; or when confronted with new information that contradicts existing beliefs, ideas, and values.[1][2]

Leon Festinger's 1957 theory of cognitive dissonance focuses on how human beings strive for internal consistency. A person who experiences inconsistency tends to become psychologically uncomfortable, and so is motivated to try to reduce the cognitive dissonance occurring, and actively avoids situations and information likely to increase the psychological discomfort.[1]

Is there anything I said that was avoiding the debate or fits that criteria? I'm facing the issue head on, you meanwhile won't even watch the videos out of fear of "propaganda". You're upset because you know that the animal industry is abusive, but you also don't want to be held responsible for that and so you can't even look at the facts. That's cognitive dissonance.

How do you threaten it?

And there was nothing mature about this comment: "I'm sensing your cognitive dissonance. Keep considering a trip to Wendy's for that Baconator."

I'm facing this head on, but I'm not dedicating an hour to look at propaganda in my spare time. I know there's abuse world wide, but that doesn't mean I'm shifting responsibility. You're literally making that up.
