This used to be my favorite Madonna song of all time, just when I started getting into her music, before I discovered my current favorites. Secret still remains one of my favorite tracks of all time and the ultimately favorite on Bedtime Stories. SO soothing, the music video is beautiful and criminally underrated as well, the melody is perfect and the lyrics are really beautiful, I wish she'd perform this song more. - @Antonio

There’s not much I can say about this song, since it doesn’t really allow you to speak while you listen to it. Madonna’s smooth vocals + an acoustic guitar is one of the most simple yet effective combinations there is. This songs allows you to just close your eyes and get lost on it, putting you in a transe and taking over any thought you may have. It’s always great for a rainy/introspective day specially beacuse it can cheer you up since the lyrics are very uplifting, speaking about finding the key to your own concept of happiness. - @Johny Wayne

Fantastic song! Definitely one of her greatest singles. The muffled lullaby sounds with her angelic voice is so soothing in this track!  - @shoful

This track is one of her best 90's singles. Romantic yet lyrically quite simple compared to her biggest dance productions. It has an enigmatic vibe as her love is never revealed. Mysterious and captivating song.  - @Dr Evil

One of the most memorable of Madonna's singles from the 90's, Secret tells the story of one of Madge's many lovers and their secret. It was the lead single, and featured a edgy video filmed in Harlem. It takes the R&B vibes of the album and amplifies them; ultimately, it became one of her strongest singles of her career, but sadly, one of the most underrated. - @jujubae

One of her best singles and arguably very underrated indeed.   Secret was a flawless choice for lead single   - @darkwolf

I like the acoustic guitar and the way the instrumental grows as the song progresses, but lyric wise it’s far from the best Madonna can offer. It’s got some nice positive thoughts but that’s about it. - @Sassy McSass

This song is so great and lyrically is the heir of Live to Tell.  - @johncba

Comments:

Had to give this song an 11 because this song is MADONNA! This is everything she is about. Even tho I feel like the song doesn't really fit the album, its a slap across the face to all the critics about her previous album so this would be the only album where it would truly fit! This is probably the greatest comebacks ever! And the use of her earlier singnature phrase "Express Yourself" is ****ing BRILLIANT! - @shoful

SLAP these ungrateful whores in the face! She's not your bitch don't hang your **** on her! I love Madonna so much for writing this song, and even more for releasing it as a single. She knew it would flop but she wanted the world to know EXACTLY what she thinks of their criticism. "Did I say something wrong? Oops! I didn't know I couldn't talk about sex!" slams the media that went insane and made headlines about her Erotica album being satanic and horrible, "Did I stay too long?" No Madonna, you stayed and will keep staying how long you ****ing want to stay, **** the media. "Did I have a point of view?" because it was a sin to be an opinionated woman back then, this song is different from everything on Bedtime Stories and probably is the song that fits in the least, but I can not be more grateful for it's existence. SLAP THOSE HOES! - @Antonio

This is the type of song that had to be in the every cool 90s kid playlist. This is coming from someone born in 2000 but I feel like the coolest little rebel 90s piece of trash there is when I listen to it, so I guess I’m entitled to draw that conclusion . Even though it has an extremly simple structure, it’s super catchy and fits in with the time’s trends, resembling TLC’s style. While this song is a fun teen bop, Madonna is at her most unapologetic/audacious bitxh moment in this album, hence its teen/rebel production. Probably some of my all-time favorite Madonna lyrics. - @Johny Wayne

Madonna in a nutshell. ICONIC.  - @johncba

Again with a reference to a past famous song with “express yourself” because she was already at a point where she could do that – I like that about her songs, makes it feel like she’s really in control and evolving but still not forgetting the past that would become her legacy. The only problem I have with this song is that when you feel the need to say “I don’t care about your opinion” so much it probably means that actually you do. But I guess it doesn’t make her message less important. Other female pop acts that came after needed songs like this.

I also remember being very young and listening to this song and thinking “it’s so subversive”. Lol - @Sassy McSass

This is another song that defines Madonna's career. Judging by the many times she has shown it love on her tours, Human Nature is obviously a personal favorite from The Queen herself.  - @MonsterJames333

My favorite Madonna single of all-time. Human Nature is her bite back to the critics who had been hounding her since the VMA performance of Like a Prayer, up through Papa Don't Preach, the Like a Prayer video, and the entire Erotica era. Known to twist a few arms, Madonna holds nothing back on this slithering R&B banger, basically telling those who tried to box her in to **** off. Truly one of the album's best highlights. - @jujubae

Clapback of the century to the critics after the backlash from Erotica. - @boobtank

- One of the most important singles in her discography about her public image. Back when artists were outspoken and not just label puppets. EXPRESS YOURSELF. - @Dr Evil
