Which Disney live-action remakes do you want next ?

So Disney's been on a roll with these live action remakes of animated classics. If done right you live for them but if done wrong it's almost tragic.

Disney started things slow in 2010 with the Tim burton Alice In Wonderland (which in my opinion is one of the best movies of this decade).

They then went on by creating another masterpiece in 2014 with Maleficent (their live action adaption of Sleeping Beauty).

2015's Cinderella was slightly Underwhelming for me, Disney's most famous princess sadly got an average and possibly forgetful movie.

2016 brought along the live adaptation of The Jungle Book and the whole thing was great to be honest.

2016 also gave us a sequel to the Alice In Wonderland movie which was an overall mess and since Maleficent and The Jungle Book are also due for sequels, I fear these sequels will just dilute the greatness of the originals. They should avoid sequels tbh.

2017's Beauty and The Beast gave Belle what it did not to Cinderella, the movie was charming and even though it stayed true to the animated version, every scene managed to surprise the viewer and entertain them whereas Cinderella was a lowkey borefest (maybe cause they stripped its musicality and the thing felt too monotone).

Mulan's live adaptation is due for 2018, if they mess it up, they're in for some racial trouble.

Almost every Disney classic is due for a live action remake, so my question to you is, which ones would you like to see as soon as possible and which one's do you think should be untouched ?

In this order, i'd like to see these happen

1-The Little Mermaid (my fav Disney movie, they better not mess it up)

2-Dumbo (Tim Burton is confirmed as Director, not worried about this)

3-Aladdin (This can be amazing if they stay true to the movie)

4-Cruella (An origin story for an iconic villain ala Maleficent starring Emma Stone, sounds pleasant)

5-The Sword In The Stone (Bring light back to a forgotten classic)

6-Tarzan (This can easily lend itself to a live adaptation)

Apparently they wanna adapt The Lion King, I fear an all animal CGI is not the brightest of ideas. I also hear they wanna make Rose Red (their version of a Snow White adaptation but starring her long lost sister) sounds risky as I've personally never heard of Snow White having a sister in almost all popular adaptations.

Guys they are in REAL trouble with the Mulan live action remake, they described it as Ninja girl extravaganza and Twitter went off :air:

The Hunchback of Notre Dame would be interesting. It's a really good story and deals with a lot of issues we see in society today i.e. discriminating against someone who looks 'different', harassing women etc.

I was looking forward for your topic until I read this :awkney:

Quality wise, I think The Jungle Book was the best.

I'm excited for Snow White, Hunchback of Notre Dame, The Little Mermaid and, why not?, Frozen! Imagine the Frozen musical with real people on the screen. I can feel the chills.

I really want a live action movie based on a vilain. Vilains are much more interesting for me, they nailed Maleficent, I'd like to have the same with Cruela & Ursula and why not The Evil Queen too?

I also agree with you, they should avoid all sequels.

Oh I would love this! I love everything that takes place in the old Paris!

The Little Mermaid or keep it:cryga:

Princess Ariel has been my favorite Disney princess for years and possibly influences me as a person today. Me being somewhat transgender, I also think Ariel could help contribute to the LGBT themes that Disney has been incorporating in their films. Mermaids dont have genitalia, which is why a large quantity of trans youth looks up to characters such as Ariel. I personally never liked Cinderella she was too much of a perfect b*tch:interestinga:

I actually loved Cinderella because she was too much of a perfect bitch :air:

I want them to stop, does that count? :cryga:

If I had it my way, I want them to start making original classics again (and the 2D drawing style if I had it my way, but that is even less likely). A lot of the stuff they have been making over the past 5 years or so has been so forgettable IMO.

Alice In Wonderland (and its sequel) was a snoozefest. Good god, what possessed them to think anyone wanted a sequel?

Cinderella was fine, forgettable, but ok.

Maleficent would have been a good movie if they didn't butcher the character of Maleficent, the best ever villain in a Disney movie. I enjoyed the movie when I watched it but now I hate it with a burning passion.

Jungle Book was probably one of the best things I've watched last year (and I dislike the original animated film)! Seriously it was fantastic! It also gives me hope that the Lion King will be done justice.

I'd love a Hunchback live-action remake. But I don't think Disney will do something like Hellfire with all those sexual connotations again...And without Hellfire there is no Hunchback.

Mulan looks like it's gonna have a looot of problems, which is a shame, as it's one of my favourites.

I'm kind of apprehensive about Mulan. I'm kind of excited for an all-Chinese cast that could deliver a legitimate non-musical epic. That said, I'm afraid of where it's going (cutting Shang (?), mixed about there being no music).

Also, Beauty and the Beast tutting that they're being progressive, by showing a gay man, who was pining after the awful hot guy, dancing with another guy for a second? They need to step it up when it comes to "progressive representation".

3 points in and ready for more
