Moebius 8,965
CTTR released to moderate success at most, surprising for a pop behemoth like Katy. But, the quality of the music is better than most of the stuff she's done in the past It's one of those songs I can listen to a lot of times without getting bored of it, which usually only happens with Gaga or ppl I stan for. It has a good message, it's different from the songs on the Top 40 (to a degree), it's disco , and unexpected from Katy. Though not exactly a fan of Katy or her music, which most of the time is just basic pop music, she seems more serious with her artistry in this era. That Bon Appetit snippet sounded like a bop, and even though her "wokeness" feels gimmicky, her messages are good, and the music sounds fresh...er. Joanne wasn't what we expected. Her comments pre-PI made it seem like the dark, RedOne produced FM. Then came PI, disco rock, which made the speculations of a disco or rock album greater. Then came Joanne, album full of ballads and more laid back music. We needed Gaga bops to save us from the shitty pop scene of 2016, and now 2017 (do not think that I don't like Joanne; it just was unexpected, and I still love it ). That CTTR snippet made me feel like Katy will actually deliver for once. And it did, I love the disco vibes Her announcement of all the collabs in the album at first was kinda distasteful, and it's true that she's more for the bling than the music, but a lot of those sound promising It reminds me of ARTPOP a lot; different sound, the visuals, the music, the reverse Music-not-the-Bling and for the fact that ppl are teasing it for CTTR underperformance. I think LM need to be more open minded about this one. I sure as hell am, and I hope it's going to get released somewhere in late May/early June to enjoy it in the summer The pop scene in dying because of streaming; it won't be easy for Gaga to get to the streaming youth, Ed and Drake raking all the streams and getting #1 effortlessly, Bey's preggie, and Ari still has to release a new song. Katy appeals to the demographic, so her streaming numbers could be higher with a more trendy sound. Just don't let pop music become boring and plain again I can't believe I'm defending Katy here oh well The Most Popular Girls in School megarate is cancelled! AlexanderLevi2 5,849
I'm hoping it's good. I want to have a good KP album... I'm just not getting my hopes up. I have bought all of her albums, but they age terribly. I can't listen to the majority of the album after a month. But CTTR actually grew on me so we will see. Currently listening to Joanne
Mister Gaga 22,822
I lowkey agree. I like the new direction she took with CTTR (although i wish she'd change the production, because it's TD 3.0). It's very ARTPOP, and i like it. The video + performances were great, very philosophical, they made me think. She clearly took a risk. I'm here for KP4 ha american life

Trepadation 5,566
I remember being at kroger and they played CTTR and my mom said hey did you hear what they were plating? and I said katy's new song and she said no they're playing reggae. And I told her that was katy's song, I can't believe her.

EdgeofTeeth 1,934
I'm excited because Katy mostly serves bops, but CTTR was a huge disappointment to me after that amazing snippet. Still holding out hope for the album tho

Fernster7 7,912
I'm excited because I like her but I think CTTR is weaker than most of her other singles but Dark Horse came after Roar so let's see what she has in store for single two. We have two selves. One the world needs us to be, compliant, and the shadow. Ignore it and life is forever suffering.
youandi 2,110
Yes because I want her to make me like her again and I'm quite enjoying CTTR. ALTHOUGH that first snippet was so deceiving. I was expecting a synthy, funky almost 80s influenced banger but that part of the intro doesn't really take over like I thought it would, oh well

JHS 4,714
Yas! CTTR is a really good song and really like her new look. Let's see what she serves 1 hour ago, Moebius said: Joanne wasn't what we expected. Her comments pre-PI made it seem like the dark, RedOne produced FM. I wouldn't say her comments pre-PI made Joanne seem dark tho. It's true that during the AHS era she said that playing The Countess would inspire her on her album but the last time she considered the idea of a dark album was on the Golden Globes when she was asked about it. From then on, she didn't say anything about it and when the 8 Red One tracks were announced we all knew that they maybe wouldn't make the final cut. It was us who made these theories about TFM 2.0 because that's what we wanted. Am I making sense? And Joanne is not full of ballads. Only MR, Angel Down and Joanne are ballads. It's different music but not all of them are ballads
