(AP) — New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo's proposal to give middle-class students free tuition at state colleges has touched off a broader debate about the cost of an education — and several alternative proposals. Senate Democrats on Monday offered their own plan for the nation's largest public university system, with 440,000 students spread among 64 campuses. Their plan would make tuition free for students from families earning up to $150,000, compared to Cuomo's $125,000 threshold. The new proposal would also give lower income students more help with room and board and $10 million in increased aid for students at private colleges. I live all the way in Arizona and I want to attend college the same year I graduate high school, so I don't exactly have a year to spend. Although I'll be graduating high school with my associates so I guess I don't have to immediately jump into college if I don't want to. I'm not in the areas with the hottest temperatures though, and my area generally gets a lot colder than the rest of the state. What r ur temperatures in the summer? In the summer the temperatures can be pretty extreme. In certain parts of the state, like the bigger cities, it usually goes into the low 100's, but in my city the max is usually about 90 and generally stays in the low 80's. Throughout, the lows are pretty much anywhere from mid 50's to mid 70's. It's not that bad after a while, although at first it may seem horrid. But if you're like me and you prefer to wear layers and such, summer will most definitely be your least favorite part of the year. The good thing is that we're pretty dry, unlike states like Louisiana where the temperatures during the summer are not only pretty high, but it's also really humid.
