What I quite like about the "Wide Awake" video is the references to the rest of the era. Very cute really.

"California Girls" - the beginning

"Teenage Dream" - the end

"Firework" - the blast out of her chest

"E.T." - the darkness and the strawberry

"Last Friday Night" - the girl on the bicycle

"The One That Got Away" - when she's sick in the wheelchair

"Part of Me" - when she punches the guy

A very solid wrapup to the era.

As much as I hate KP, I really wish Gaga did a music video that reflected on the past music videos of the era

Yeah, it could be great if done right. I think some plans were halted this era tho. :/

I really liked Wide Awake! Definitely one of the better videos from the TD era, especially considering some of her recent videos. My only problem was that it was really difficult to follow. I thought there were way too many storylines. But with that said, it was just STUNNING, visually. Overall I give the video a solid 4.5/5. Oh, and that ending was FABULOUS.

Great way to end this incredible era. I think we already knew the song would go #1, but this video just secures that.

1 Carly Rae Jepsen - Call Me Maybe 1.0000

2 Katy Perry - Wide Awake 0.8000

Just 20% to go!

I used to like Katy a lot, but this whole era was too corny for me. This video is visually very attractive though. Who directed it?

Anyway, I'm interested to see how it will be her next era.

It's nice to see the positive side in every one in this thread.

Would you guys like Gaga to have a banjo in any of her songs?

I GOT THAT BOOM BOOM THAT YOU WANT... :music: .

I feel sad that Interscope hasn't evaluated and fought for Gaga's BTW era as well as Capitol did for Katy :(

Now she's about to do Gaga's goth-pop thing from before and nobody will call her out for it. This on top of all the fouls Katy issued Gaga in the past.

I don't know, but I'm severely disappointed in Troy Carter.

Interscope has plenty of money and I think they could of easily helped Gaga gain more radio support. Shame.

Troy Carter is one of the greatest geniuses of our generation. You can't blame Interscope's failures on him! Not all "suits" are the same. Troy Carter =/= Interscope. Besides, just because you don't understand his strategies right now doesn't mean he's not an outstandingly brilliant mind in the entertainment industry and in the business world.

I trust him.

And In regards to Interscope, I'm sure they learned their lesson

That's what I like to think, too!

The BTW era wasn't as "bad" as we think it was. It was still massively successful. It was not as well-planned as it could have been, but it still produced some massive hits. For instance, even though we all blame Judas for killing the era's momentum early on, can you believe a song with lyrics like that still peaked in the top 10 in the US? That's a seriously impressive feat!

This.

TFM had 3 singles; only 1 of those 3 (Bad Romance) topped the 100M AI mark. Although BTW had 2 flop singles of its 5 overall, two of those passed the 100M AI mark (TEoG and BTW).

So ARGUABLY, Gaga had a better (if not similar) amount of radio presence in comparison to TFM.
