Gaga Songs: Hits? YES or NO

Mister Gaga

Imo, only DITD, Hair, Sexxx Dreams, Gypsy, A-YO and & Dancin' In Circles could have been hits.

Other songs are cute (Monster, Sheisse, HML, Venus, Diamond Heart), but they're not single material.

Well yes. It was a hit in some countries but we both know other songs on the album would have been way bigger than Judas riding the hype Gaga had at the moment. And I really think Judas is way louder for radio than Monster.

But which song could be released instead to keep the hype up ? :/ I don't think Judas affected anything around the hype. :) And it's the only WW hit after all

I still bleed for Sex Dreams. The demo is just so much better :(

The Edge Of Glory. In fact I think it should have been the lead single. It definitely did affect the hype, the BTW era suffered a lot because of it.

Born This Way was also a WW hit and the album didn't have more because they released You and I WW which killed the rest of the era outside of the US.

The Edge would have been a smah as lead single, but a flop as 2nd single. Born This Way failed to be a WW hit. It first sold great because of The Fame and The Fame Monster but it flopped shortly after. It flopped on radio, on sales, and people really disliked it. The US saved it.

Born To Slay

I think Perfect Illusion, with some payola, high profile performances and a better m/v, it could've been a hit.

If she had debuted the single the Friday before the VMAs with the m/v and performed it at the show, it would've debuted top 5 easily. Add to that Jimmy Fallon, AGT and maybe another show, it could have had longevity.

Well it managed to become pretty big as the third single so it definitely wouldn't have flopped as the second.

We could say the same about Judas tho, people jumped on it because of Gaga's hype and the controversy but after that it tanked.

But my point is that Monster had way more potential than Judas to be a hit.

Maybe you're right, but I don't think it could have been a long-lasting hit. And I'm still convicted MR would have not WAY better

Was it ? I don't remember hearing about it anywhere. But I don't follow these things very close. I guess some countries give more chance to some genres/styles of music than others.

Same as BTW, it almost only worked in the US, and releasing it as 2nd or 3rd single is a total different thing. After Born This Way dispointed the GP, people were waiting for a dance anthem, not an up-tempo ballad :)

It did. A huge smash all over Europe :)
