The absolute carnage in this thread :toofunny:

I wish someone would lie and tell me they wanted an album like joanne over an album more in line with BTW and TFM.

If this had been her debut i doubt half, if not most of yall, wouldn't have stuck around for the sophomore album. And I cannot tell people they are wrong for their tastes, but I genuinely feel like those who say they enjoy this album are saying that to try and convince themselves they do, because for as much as this site cries 'basic', 'trash', 'poor taste', it sure is funny how much yall like joanne.

OT: is it souless? No.

Unfeel then :nails:

I agree in a certain  way that the album has some songs that are very generic. The whole concept is kinda unique for a Gaga album but not for an album in general. I love the album though.

I wonder what happened in the creative process if she was working with RedOne  and  Giorgio Moroder, what was the sound they were chasing for and why she decided to take another route.

I think something like Joanne was needed after the mess she and Interscope  did with ARTPOP. Career wise I think Joanne will be remembered as a minor album like C2C.  It all depends on what's to come though.

On a serious note...I do agree to a degree...lol

I feel Joanne was a rushed concept, because we were all expecting a dark pop album again from her and then out of nowhere we got a...Gaga country album?

I just feel that the music she made with Mark was sub par to her "signature" sound and didn't feel well thought out.

Even Perfect Illusion feels forced and out of place on Joanne...it lacks a real "effort" since the lyrics are very repetitive, the instrumental is "light" and very simple...

Then the rest of the album is ballads and country tunes trying to NOT be as described by Gaga but...it's a country album. Was she trying to say she at least did a COUNTRY album once in here career just to say so? "I've done pop, rock, jazz, now COUNTRY"...get what I'm saying?

WTF is not country.  It is Pop, LADY GAGA POP.

OP: Joanne has soul, almost every song has meaning, and is not only sex like other pop girls.

Your post is riddled with assumptions about how people react to and relate to Gaga's music but I won't even start there.

What makes Gaga superior to many artists is her gift at writing memorable melodies and singing them with a kick ass voice. That's something that can be replicated in any genre no matter what (except maybe rap). I don't need a repetitive four on the floor dance beat, a heavy rumbling bass synthesizer and autotuned (yet still slayful) vocals to prove that to me otherwise. What makes Joanne probably my second favorite album from her (after the slayage of BTW) is the fact that she proved she doesn't need overtly electropop and dance music to still show that she can make a catchy and relatable song. Take it from someone who isn't as narrowminded musically as you... :trollga:

Stuff such as "one five ten lay a million on be before the end of the song" where gaga rhymes "me" with "song" just makes me doubt the existance of god.

WTF SHE DOESNT RHYME "me" with "song"....

she rhymes "on" with "song"

'one five ten lay a million ON

me before the end of this SONG'

Your wish is my command :diane:

Spoiler

As it stands right now, this is how I rank her albums:

Joanne = ARTPOP > Born This Way > Cheek to Cheek > The Fame Monster > The Fame

I like that Gaga evolves. I also tend to like each album more than the last. She just gets better with time :flutter: so no, I wouldn't want another TFM or another BTW. I want her to continue doing new things :flutter:

I forget if I've commented in this thread yet  but in case I haven't, OT: It's far from soulless :laughga: Gaga's baring her emotions in almost every song. In fact, the only thing I found remotely disappointing was the number of "romance-y" songs but even those are well done and heartfelt so I have zero complaints with Joanne. Nothing but love

Also, I can't at the number of people that think Joanne is actually a country album :rip: Live in Florida for 22 years, you'll learn the difference between country and pop/rock with occasional country influence.

You're stinky

You're adorable for assuming I'm musically narrow-minded because I don't like Joanne. Talk about assumptions in your opening sentence then close with that? Oh OK lol

Your original post specifically this part: "I wish someone would lie and tell me they wanted an album like joanne over an album more in line with BTW and TFM." and this: "I genuinely feel like those who say they enjoy this album are saying that to try and convince themselves they do" is basically you making an assumption...

Also, it seems that you are projecting your own dissatisfaction with Joanne onto others especially with that latter statement. Not everyone here wants another TFM and BTW and maybe it's just you and a handful of other little bopsters, but it's ok sis, you've already proven that you're a little narrow minded.

This is gathered from information leading up to the release of joanne, where everyone was stating how they wanted dark music, BTW 2.0, an updated TFM, and so on. Not a single person said that wanted music in the style of Joanne, so yes, no one said that they wanted an album like Joanne, but they were foaming for the previously stated musical directions, so what's your point again?

And there's no projection, because it's pretty clear the fanbase (on here at least) is divided on their satisfaction with joanne, not just myself and a handful of others.

Perhaps you should further your reading and comprehension abilities instead of worrying about how musically narrow-minded I am

It's so funny when people don't believe some of us when we say we genuinely like Joanne. Sure, I was here since The Fame because that was her first mainstream release.

But as I got to know her and begin to research her journey, I also fell in love with records/ep's from pre-Gaga. Most people that DON'T like Joanne probably also dislike songs like "Let Love Down", No Floods, and the iconic masterpiece that's called "Wonderful".

So while I love Dance-pop, Electronic Gaga, I'm also her for alternative Stefani as well.

The only era I didn't like (and most people know this here) was C2C. I wasn't here for it literally and figuratively. Though unlike most people here I didn't get on the forums to "give my opinion" or bash those of you who enjoyed it.

It's not that hard to just observe sometimes and let things be. . . .
