If he felt threatened, I would view the situation differently. And of course there is a chance he felt that way. Like I have said already, I agree in principle, but at the same time I don't like to overthink how people could react. I think society can become boring if no one ever does anything which is politically incorrect, because they fear someone might feel offended. We know that many women don't like to be touched like Shawn Mendes was, so I wouldn't do that. But if I was Katy Perry, I might take a chance, and touch Shawn Mendes' butt, just for fun.

I think you're right, this issue is probably more sensitive for women than men, in general. I tend to assume that other men wouldn't mind getting touched by Katy Perry, because I wouldn't, and for most men I think it's true. But I don't assume women feel the same way (on the contrary, I tend to assume they don't like it). I know not all women are the same, and not all men are the same. But I am so convinced Shawn Mendes was not offended, I just view this as harmless fun (knowing that there is always a chance I could be wrong).

Absolutely. We are all just assuming how he really felt. Maybe he liked it and maybe he didn't, but either way Katy is still in the wrong here in my opinion. She should not have taken the right to invade his personal space and touch him without his consent.

I do appreciate your point and in reality I don't hear a lot of men complain abour harrassement in a way I hear a lot of women complain. From my experience guys just kind of brush it off. It's not a big deal to them as it is to women. Might be because they don't actually feel violated and feel like a woman could overpower them or are afraid to speak up.

I was a little bit disgusted when I heard the news, Shawn Mendes is a eighteen years old boy and Katy Perry is thirty two years old. I don't know if he likes it or not but either way it's still totally not okay to touch someone like that. Also judging the situation if he liked it or not also goes a bit too far, what if someone gets raped. Would you ask him or her if she liked it anyway? It's stupid and disgusting.

Not shocking coming from Katy. She makes fun of mental health also.

Thing is, this entire thing seems like an accident that he brushes off. I've looked at the clip a few times and I don't see a hand go anywhere near there, I can't even see Katy. We've sometimes accidentially touched someone in public whether we misjudged how close we stood or thought they were someone else or were standing back-to-back and were brushing against them ever so slightly. That looks like what happened here. The way he talks, it sounds like it's just an accident and Katy sounds like she genuinely didn't realise. Might be reading the wrong thing into it, but that's what it looks like to me.

I mean, I was once walking down the street and there was a guy walking behind me and he must have been so quiet because I didn't hear his footsteps behind me, until he dodged past me, by walking off the kerb and around. But in doing so, my hands were moving back and forward in a walking motion and he timed it just when my hand moved back and I actually cupped his entire genital area! Which is what alerted me to the fact that there was even someone there! Either it was an accident or he was the most well-timed pervert in the world. Point is, stuff like this can happen and we can laugh it off. It struck me that this is what happened here. But if she really did grope him, well, that's wrong. And there should be no double standard. Do people sometimes like being groped by someone that they found attractive? Yes, but that doesn't make it ok to do in the first place, especially because you don't know if the interaction is welcome.

Wow, I didn't expect that. She seems like such a politically involved person which wouldn't make jokes about that. Well, I am also not that interested in her or her music so that explains a lot as well.

She was obviously mocking Britney's infamous shaving head moment.

I was so disappointed in her honestly, I liked her and I always bopped to her songs but I'm really against people making fun of mental health disorder. :saladga:
