He didn't necessarily earn anything though. It's brand new and he's popular, so people are buying the songs to hear them... or am I missing something?

I'm confused why most of yall hate him?

Is it because you think he's ugly?

Is it because he pooped his pants that one time?

Is it because his ego has swollen over the years?

Is it because this is a gaga fansite and yall are mad he's more popular than her right now?

I mean, perhaps I'm biased, but I've always liked his music.  I like his voice, his writing style, and his musical productions.

Just because you don't like it doesn't mean it's 'basic' or 'trash' or undeserving. Grow up, honestly, truly. You think his music is boring, maybe because you can't relate, but music doesn't need this huge message shrouded in mystery and meaning to be good or non-basic.

OT:

Listening right now, and so far it's very in line with his previous works, and his previous works have been good.

This. Stop being mad that he shaded Gaga and he’s very popular. This album is good. And he self wrote two of the tracks, which happen to be the best on the album.

That's funny because I feel the exact same in reverse. It's very common for people to completely ignore whole areas of my posts and usually the best parts with the best evidence (which drives me round the twist). I take in other people's opinion, really I do, my opinion to counteract it isn't the same as tossing it aside. Why is it when the other person does it, it's acceptable but when I do it, I'm being obstructive? And I'm sorry if I've ever said anything about race that's inadvertently offended you but please understand that I'm treating everyone the same. I don't treat people any better because they're like or treat them any worse because they're different to me. If I think a person or their output is good, I'll say so and vice versa. I don't care if this artist is a highly respected legend - if they make a bad album, I'll say so. I don't care if an artist is barely successful and nobody likes them - if they make a good album, I'll say so. I listen without prejudice, always have. But so many people mistake equal treatment for unfair treatment merely because it's not the reception they want. I never got accused of racism for giving bad reviews to black artists until last year (and I was never called a racist or had white-based insults directed at me until last year either). Nowadays, there's a real sense of entitlement in the urban music scene among artists and fans. They truly believe that they're more deserving than anyone, that black people always make the best music in any given situation. That was when I knew that race relations needed a serious revamp and I started re-examining the way we're going about things in this day and age. Because something isn't connecting and our relations with one another are all the worse for it.

1. Idk how your relationship is with other people but I'm talking about me and you. Feels like you toss my opinions aside. And if you see my post on here I serve no bias to anyone. As long as an opinion is sound and informative i don't mind, but to talk about "urban" and "black" communities, my communities, and totally miss the spot makes me uncomfortable. And when I try to inform you about the reality you dismiss it due to your theories. If you listen to music without prejudice stop bring up color. Music has no color.

2. People might think you are a racist because you focus more on their color than you do their music.

The UK always glorifies mediocre white 'talent'. This should not be shocking. The UK will be the only charts where the only two charting artists are Ed Sheeran and The Chainsmokers. Disgusted, honestly. :madge:

I don't think it's about white mediocrity specifically  but the UK will love someone for flavour of the month for a few albums then forget about them after. Dido, Alanis Morrisette and Norah jones spring to mind. You could also include Emeil  Sande who is not white. Her first album, she was everywhere but then people moved on.  It's music for middle class dinner parties. Currently now it's the time of Ed Sheeran. But,  It's beyond me how Drake is currently the biggest music star in the world atm. Having every song on his album debut in the charts. He isn't white but makes completely mediocre music that is glorified imo.

Also Currently those two artists you mentioned are tearing up the Billboard hot 100. The chainsmokers have THREE songs in the hot 100 top ten this week. So this phenomenon isn't limited to the UK.  It's not about colour, it's about whoever is flavour of the month at the current time.

This has been noted in subsequent posts of mine. This thread is about U.K. Charts though.
