PunkTheFunk 124,403
What does a single gay do on a Friday night? Make Excel spreadsheets for pop songs Anyway, below is a graph I made using data from kworb.net. I compared three "I-haven't-released-new-solo-pop-music-in-three-years" comeback singles: PI, CTTR, and Green Light. Recall that Katy, Lorde, and Gaga all released their last albums three years ago within a few weeks of each other -- Lorde in late Sep 2013, Katy in Oct 2013, and Gaga in early Nov 2013.) X-axis is hours since the first kworb.net update for the song, and y-axis is the iTunes US update/rating/whatever it's called (with the highest being 1.0). So basically this chart shows what the first 30 or so hours for the songs looked like on iTunes. Some observations: Green Light and CTTR are following very similar paths. Both started with iTunes updates of about 0.2 and peaked close to 0.8 before declining. Green Light had a much steadier rise, but it looks like CTTR has a much steadier decline. For some reason I feel like Green Light is just going to take a nosedive (Since writing this sentence I checked kworb again and there was yet another red update for Green Light. 0.7041 --> 0.6719 ) PI had a MUCH higher debut (0.5); it shot right to 1.0 within hours, and held that for almost a day before it ultimately floppedT Now compare all of this to Ed Sheeran's "Shape of You", arguably the most successful song of the year so far. I checked the archives and that song was at 1.0 right out of the gate and it's still at 1.0. And it's been 2 months TL;DR: The pop girls are dropping like flies and need to step their chart games up if they want to stay relevant #Bling not the music Waiting for Chart Queen @DiscoHeaven23 to read my amateur analysis for filth

Hopefully the polar opposite of tropical pop I actually hate the sound I can't tell Cheap Thrills or Shape of You apart from almost anything else on the radio atm Spoiler "Almost" because MR comes to save me Also that's not to shade Sia or Ed, just that those songs all sound too similar for my taste 🌸Flourishing and vibrant🌼

Irrelevant 20,281
PI would've done better if gaga actually did something about it, instead of just posting rainbow banners on insta CTTR I think will have similar success to Applause, so its gagz revenge GL was just newly released, so we can't REALLY judge it now, its WAY better than Royals at least, that song was boring 광야로 걸어가 알아 네 home ground
