I usually stay calm, but he's become disgusting, I don't get it why. He is so unattractive rn with his appearance (yes, come on) and behaviour. This really is a horrendous combination

Exacly. He'll go insane when the downfall begins. Now he thinks he knows everything about fame. He's not on the same level of fame or sucess as Gaga, Beyoncé, Madonna...he had the luck to get #1 singles and a Grammy...ok...but he doesn't have the longevity or cultural impact to act like he does.

I mean he can't have an ego over his looks so I guess he had to find it elsewhere :reductive:

I agree and disagree with his statement.

Art should be collaborative and, just like actors working with a director, a trusted producer can be a guiding force to help someone's album become more cohesive. For instance, I thought Mark did a great job on Joanne. You can hear his precision and expertise in every track, but he also allowed Gaga to be GAGA.

However just because an artist loses monetary success after two albums doesn't necessarily mean that their music afterwards is any less in terms of quality.

Some people write music for the audience.

Some people write music for themselves.

Neither of these is better than the other.

It's really that simple.

We could say that about writers and painters as well. Greatness is in making beautiful art, with integrity, not producing "fast-food"-level of music for mass comsuption. That's the bling.

Exacly. An artist is always evolving and changing. And has an identity...

He is getting on my nerves lately, what is wrong with him? He is a ****ing sellout, he would do anything for a number one single even if he is not happy with the result.

I really don't understand how you can do that and have this massive ego.

Add these quotes to the cocky ones he made last month: "In a 100m sprint to get a No1 album I just know I’m going to win. I don’t care who’s doing what. I just know I’m going to win. I’m going to make sure I come first". What an useless personality. What a massive ego.

You couldn't be more right. Perhaps I'm not the one to judge, but I'm sick of these singers acting like they're the center of the universe after getting a #1, winning an award etc. The Chainsmokers (this is not the worst case tho, they have been blinded by the sudden success), Sheeran... his situation is worse 'cause he used to be very nice and humble. The same happened to Bieber, and it sucks. They have zero impact on the culture, they brought nothing new to the table. The music may be good, yes, but they can't behave like they're the new MJs, Madonnas or yes, Gagas.:duck: I simply hope it's just the worst possible publicity stunt by Ed or whatever...

What he said was half true though. Letting some people help you and tell you "no" sometimes is never a bad thing. But not to the point that you're a puppet and you just do what people tell you to do

"they are no longer biggest" well Eddie, you know, some artists want to express themselves and create something original from the bottom of their hearts and "being the biggest" is not exactly their goal in life (especially since they were big once and have now the money to do what they want)

Exacly. These kind of artist are still fighting for an identity on the music industry and should be humble, in my opinion. MJ, Madonna, Gaga and Beyoncé, for example, all have a strong identity and a widespread impact on pop culture, music, fashion, society.

Like Tony Bennett always says, being the best (not the "biggest") is the true challenge. Time is the ultimate truthteller :)
