When he said this he was talking about how he was influenced by his team to released Shape Of You as the lead single instead of other song he thought was a "classic".

Gaga's label (sadly) still has full control on choosing which song will be the lead single so I don't see how this comment applies to her.

Ed Sheeran seems like the kind of guy who would have murdered women for rejecting him if he wasn't famous. And now he uses his marginal talent and unjustified success to fill the emotional vacancies left by his lonely teenage years, which were a result of his lack of appearance and charm.
