Well, i'm still getting into it. I need a couple of days, but my first thoughts are:

- It's structure reminds me of Venus (3/4 melodies, connected into one song, 2 different pre choruses)

 - It also reminds me of taylor's 1989 (New Romantics), which scares me. Do not disappoint me, my lord. Please.

- It's a clear evolution from Yellow Flicker Beat, her first uptempo song. It's more poppy and light.

- Her low voice at the beginning and some verses can get a little annoying at some point.

- Lyrics are great. Songwriting is still her strongest point. That's what made Pure Heroine stand out.

- She did not play it safe, and i admire her for that. She changed her sound, this is not very radio friendly. Excited for the rest of Melodrama. I like the song, but it didn't surprise me.

Love, love, LOVE "Green Light" and am so ready for the album. Alternative dance music...so here for it! Love the disco-esque vibes with that piano on the pre-chorus. SO GOOD!

I hope this leads to a change of radio sound, just like she did with Royals.

I love it  I never cared about her before, but now I'm rooting for her  Lorde, our Savior, please save pop from the sloppy Instagram models with wannabe Rihanna voices

Cold as ice cream, but still as sweet.

I never cared much for Lorde's music, but I can honestly say I prefer her previous sound compared to this song.

Though I'm not crazy for this as a first single choice, she is extremely authentic. From her voice, to her look, to her moves. I love the way she dances and flips her hair.

The music video reminded me of Florence riding through LA in The Odyssey.

Love the new direction, it's bold and uplifting. Can't wait for the album.

W-O-W!

I listened to it while watching the music video.  Loved it.  Totally surprised by the song.  I don't know what I was expecting from her.  Then I listened to it again, eyes closed, headphones.  Ah-mazing!!!!!!

I love the music video.  You feel the freedom it evokes.  It feels authentic, not acted, not contrived.  She is one with the spirit of the music in the night in the city feeling her lyrics and I'm feeling them too..

Well done, Lorde.

i'm just so ****ing blown out by this. i know she'd do good but this... she gives no fvcks, really does not follow any rules your usual popstar is affected by.

things like this remind me why i've been so obssesed with her. she's strange, she's raw and her songwritting tell things in the most complex way yet i still relate.

the best thing about the song, imo, is how cathartic it feels. everytime the chorus comes back, i feel a step closer to letting go and when it ends, i feel like i will.

Perfect post on this song. I wish I had written it.

And your last paragraph describes what I didn't know how to put into words.

It's like a mix of 3 different songs in 1 but it does it amazingly, it feels like a journey all of its own condensed into just under 4 minutes  Wouldn't have expected this from Lorde either and the surprise makes it that much more interesting :flutter:

So true.

I like the vibe, it feels very unique but modern. I don't know if I love the song yet, but it's probably gonna grow on me. Very excited for her new album though. She's got an undeniable gift for innovation.
