Fingerella 3,170
I love this! And theres something about the video that makes me relate to it lol
TheKillerQueen 1,983
Not a fan of it tbh. Very underwhelming and I feel like this song has been done before. It's not terrible, it's just not something I would want to have on repeat. Lace up my boots, throw on some leather and cruise.
darkchylde 14,857
i'm just so ****ing blown out by this. i know she'd do good but this... she gives no fvcks, really does not follow any rules your usual popstar is affected by. things like this remind me why i've been so obssesed with her. she's strange, she's raw and her songwritting tell things in the most complex way yet i still relate. the best thing about the song, imo, is how cathartic it feels. everytime the chorus comes back, i feel a step closer to letting go and when it ends, i feel like i will. Pietro 1,068
I think it's generic... I don't know. I like Lorde, the song is okay, but it's not outstanding. The video is generic too... Although I love the album cover, the name and the concept behind it
Muscletank 410
I think it sounds a bit dated tbh. The piano bits are very mid 90's housey and her voice doesn't seem to suit the tempo of the song. It's ok, but not something I will buy.

Harry 26,836
After a few listens this is literally my new favourite. Wow. It hit me like a ton of bricks when I properly listened to the lyrics how much I relate to it. I loved it on first listen but thought the jumps in the production were slightly jarring, but it all very quickly made sense to me and now it just flows perfectly. The euphoria in the chorus I'm so impressed

It's so beautiful People were complaining how T-Swift it sounded from that little snippet and while deep down that's what I feared, the full song washed that bullshit away. Lorde didn't lose her signature sound, and while the genre direction definitely changed quite a bit, the lyrics alone proves she didn't lose her touch. I legit don't understand how Lorde does this. I can feel everything, all the emotions, the nostalgia, the happiness, the sadness. EDIT: AND THE ALBUM IS CALLED MELODRAMA. DAMN, SHE'S GOOD. Jesus. Daughter of a poet indeed. I think it tells the story well, sonically. You've got the darker, lower sounds in the verses communicating her angst about a certain relationship... and then a lighter tone for when she's declaring that she still wants to 'green light' it. This I couldn't have said it better.

Battle 4 Ur Life 6,652
I wanted SO MUCH to like this better. too bad I don't. it's not bad it's just maybe it will grow on me like CTTR did. darkchylde 14,857
can we talk about how great the video is though? it's so full of metaphors. the green light fading in at the end, after she danced in top of the car covered in a red hue, she dropping the street phone, the green light the car passes by so quick, the girls in the back of the bathroom... i feel like the video is the transition from the way she felt about life during pure heroine to the way she understands it now that she's "crossed over" adulthood. i can't watch it enough tbh.
