Billboard has released its list of top R&B singers of all time. Here's the females. Its based on the performance of songs and albums that are considered R&B. Some of these ladies may have had albums and songs that weren't considered R&B, so it doesn't take their whole career into account if that's the case.

1. Aretha Franklin
2. Mary J. Blige
3. Whitney Houston
4. Janet Jackson
5. Mariah Carey
6. Chaka Khan
7. Beyonce
8. Rihanna
9. Alicia Keys
10. Diana Ross
11. Natalie Cole
12. Dionne Warwick
13. Stephanie Mills
14. Roberta Flack
15. Anita Baker
16. Toni Braxton
17. Patti Labelle
18. Keyshia Cole
19. Monica
20. Sade
21. Donna Summer
22. Aaaliyah
23. Brook Benton

they split it up by albums and singles. since there's really no pop chart, besides radio, it's overall

albums: http://www.billboard.com/charts/greatest-billboard-200-artists

singles: http://www.billboard.com/charts/greatest-hot-100-artists

Literally having the list being called SINGERS but not basing it off singing is utterly ridiculous. They should've called it Top R&B Sellers instead

and that shade towards Rihanna. Yes, she's a singer. And in fact, many of her hits wouldn't have smashed sang by another "singer", even if popular.

Now get off your high horse
