I didn't have my expectations too high because I expect the first couple episodes to set everything up, but after that i'm expecting (for lack of a better word) epicness.

It did have a couple "did that really just happen? o___o" moments though.

I'm really loving the book series so far! I wasn't sure if it would hold up to the expectations I had after watching the first season, but it passed my expectations 100x.

Sometimes the kind of long descriptions can be a bit overbearing though, but I guess it can be necessary to complete the full picture.

I agree, I love that he doesn't make it so good always prevails over evil. Ned's death was sad, but it added sooo much more depth to the story that it's crazy.

I have a feeling that there's going to be so many more dramatic and sad deaths to come.

I know of a couple, but not the details.

Renly and Robb, but know nothing about how they die, so it's going to be interesting to read about that. Spoiled it myself on Tumblr when I learned to not check the Game of Thrones tag until I finish Dance with Dragons. >.>

I did enjoy The Hunger Games, but I read that a few books before I started Game of Thrones, so it's going to be interesting when I go back to re-read it after I finish Dance with Dragons in some months.

The 3rd book in that series is kind of terrible and rushed though. It has absolutely nothing on Game of Thrones with "holding back punches" like Fey said.

GoT >>>>> THG

I'm glad you like it so far! And I agree, I saw the series first and then read the books, so I wasn't so interested in getting through the first book. But after that, I breezed through them, except for the fourth and fifth, which were so ridiculously, tediously, maybe even unnecessarily long. But it really is all worth it in the end, I promise! It's so hard to wait for Martin to release the next one.

I just finished Catching Fire earlier today, haha. So the third HG isn't that great? Because I didn't like the first one very much, but the second one was better.

Good point. And I lied, I'm looking forward to Brienne and Jaqen way more.

Yeah, I swear he said about two words (exaggerating, obviously). But the acting could be better, imo.

Brienne and Jaqen both.

By the way that LittleFinger/ Queen Cersei scene was pretty good! I'm beginning to like Lena Headey even more. I kind of hated how Tyrion and Cersei didn't have that conversation they had in the beginning of Book 2, but perhaps they'll save it for later?

The killing of King Robert's bastard children :eek: + that Ros scene- I wasn't prepared for that s-x scene :sweat: Hmm.. what else... Joffrey getting slapped Cersei :dies: I liked how Bran warged into his wolf as well.

I can't wait for Theon to meet up with his father Balon Greyjoy!

I guess I was expecting him to be "rougher' and have a knife-cutting voice, but then again we only saw him in one scene so..I thought Melissandre was ok, and Davos as well. I liked how they cut out the tourney Tommen has at the beginning of ACOK- unnecessary in my opinion.

I don't like Lena Headey at all. I haven't since The Brothers Grimm. And the fact that her eyebrows are always furrowed bothers the crap out of me. It's like she has no other facial expression.

And I thought that scene was unnecessary. The only thing I like is that they ended it with the scene of the kid watching them (i.e. Varys' "little bird" I assume). I feel like they put that in as a wink to the readers, but it's not like that would make sense to any only-TV series fans.

I just didn't think Melisandre was enthusiastic enough during the burning of the gods when she was reading the prayers. She just kind of stood there with her with her hands by her sleeves. I was expecting her to be a little more active during that scene, as red priests/priestesses are usually described as summoning fire with their bare hands and whatnot. Do you know what I mean? I was expecting her to be more into it like a devotee of a god. I don't know if I'm making sense as to what I was expecting. :toofunny:

The hour went so fast ... I couldn't believe it actually lasted 1 hour. I'm really looking forward for the next episode :party:

Looking forward to watching this, I did feel the book started off kind of slow, so I am not surprised by the reactions. So many characters and places to set up, but it pays off ;)

The way her mouth moves and stares at him. In that moment she knew the monster **** she created. x_x;

Yeah, I heard that books 4 and 5 could have been brought down to about 400 pages or so because of them being unnecessarily long.

Hopefully the 6th one will be long and will make every page worth it. x.x;

THG talk

Catching Fire was my favorite in the series. Catching Fire >>> Hunger Games >>>> Mockingjay imo. The thing with Mockingjay is that the pace sucks. The beginning half drags out so much, the 3rd quarter is good pace, and the 4th quarter of the book feels so rushed to end the series.

Alijandro

there are a few torrents around, taking its sweet time to download though :(

Edit: Just finished and i thought it was amazing!!

I really liked how they managed to get every storyline into this first episode without leaving any hanging (with slight exception of arya's), however the brothel scene and what followed was to establish Gendry and i think EP 2 will be very Arya heavy. From the sound of the spiel it will mainly revolve around Tyrion, Arya, Theon and some Davos that was not in the book.

I was disappointed they didnt use the prologue as a cold open like in S1, but i did understand that for time reasons it was better to combine the Maester Cressen scene with the burning of the seven so that they could get around to every character.

Also really like what they are doing with robb, i never really connected to him through the books but looking forward to seeing alot of him through season 2
