Crash 11
Sad it had to end like this, but I guess it'd have been worse if she'd held the concert and something had happened to her or her fans. stop replying to rinothebouncer. youre just stroking his imaginary dick
Ashley 9,209
Don't worry, they can keep talking like I really care what they're gonna say. They started talking and eventually they'll get bored of not being paid attention to and they'll stop. I'm a fan of her music, I just don't really care if it's an act or reality, she can do whatever she wants. I personally don't need a pop star to give me self-esteem or to teach me how to live free. You don't have to have low self-esteem to appreciate it, I don't. You obviously don't get it so nevermind.
JDi 1,495
I disagree with most of the things RinoTheBouncer had to say in this topic, but you've got to admit. Madonna's life was threatened on several occasions during the Blond Ambition Tour and she and her management still had the balls. I'm not saying Gaga should put her and her fans' life at risk, but this time around her message turns out stronger in words than it is in runs, which makes it that less convincing. Journey 0
Regardless of who made the decision the right one was made. I feel bad for the fans as obviously Gaga does but its better to be safe than sorry.

doll 0
I have a very ambivalent feeling about this. On one hand, I’m glad she’ll be okay and that we don’t have to fear for her safety. But on the other hand, I’m so sad for the Indonesian monsters and Gaga for that matter. I know she must be devastated with this decision. :( Furthermore, it just pisses me off that terrorism won yet again. ****s. :grr:

I'm not saying Gaga should put her and her fans' life at risk, but this time around her message turns out stronger in words than it is in runs, which makes it that less convincing. You know what, I think it took A LOT of balls on Gaga's part to cancel this - it's obvious this has been an incredibly hard decision for her, hence the emotional tweets. It was clear she wanted to perform at any cost or even go on stage alone if necessary as she mentioned before. She did the hardest thing - despite her huge amount of determination, she was empathetic, astute and rational enough to realize that she had to face the truth, reality. What Madonna's team did back then wasn't necessarily "having balls" just as Gaga did not "chicken out" re: Indonesia. These two situations are incomparable (Madonna's tour was pre-9/11 hence the mentality was very, very different). I can't see anything valuable coming out of a comparison... I think that ultimately it is Gaga who came out as the stronger one in this Jakarta mess. Why? Because she pushed her emotions and determination aside and looked at the facts: the FPI had a history of violence, the local and national police showed nothing but complete apathy for weeks, ergo she could be putting every single person attending the show in danger. She had been made a target but everyone else would be at risk too. She had the choice to go or not go and if she did choose to perform there and people were injured or killed, she'd never recover. Because she had had that choice, no matter how unfair it is that she had to make it. She went against her own wishes so that she would not be the one inviting danger and riots. She's a pacifist at heart, and she knew that going there would have been perceived as a taunt almost, so she made the decision to cancel. THAT is, to me, having balls. The fact that she had to cancel everything herself because of huge safety issues only reflects badly on the police forces involved and on the Indonesian government. Human rights watchgroups are already commenting that this could turn out to be really bad for Indonesia's image worldwide, economically as well as politically. Nemo 4,273
That was quite insightful, thanks for posting, although I'm lost for words at the fact that some of those protestors said it was Gaga's fault that the aeroplane crash happened near Jakarta recently. I guess it's like when Falwell and Robertson blamed 9/11 on the ACLU. "God lifted his hand of protection because blah blah blah."
Galactic Mess 1,393
They could always add a couple for dates for dat5milli I just hate when the bad guys win  Couldn't they have the 4,000 security members surrounding the stadium or something? Or a magic gaga force field I think she ran out of power while pacifying the protesters in SK... Momma Monstah needs some rest :hor:
Galactic Mess 1,393
Is that all you can think about? That she lost money and that the cancelled show will hurt her chances of BTWB being one of the highest grossing tours of all time? Her safety was in jeopardy, the way I see it, she never should've booked shows there in the first place. If these people are too stupid and narrow-minded to let her perform, then they don't deserve a Gaga concert. Their religion is a million times more harmful than a Gaga show could ever be, tbh Does the word sarcasm mean anything to you?

Gaga fought against this until the end so let's not act as if she heard about a possible threat and ran for the hills with her tail between her legs. And as far as the Blond Ambition tour goes, the controversy for it was similar to the BTWB but the danger was never this severe. She did have to cancel a date in Italy after the Pope called for a boycott and there was that famous incident in Toronto regarding censorship (that turned out to be nothing). Her Confessions tour sparked religious protests, but there wasn't a statement from an organization threatening to do anything like infiltrate her concert, set fire to her stage, and kill her - only religious groups calling for protests and boycotts. It also should be noted that other than Japan, Madonna has largely steered clear from these Asian countries that Gaga has decided to tackle head-on. It's obvious that Gaga does have the balls, but she also has a brain.

Well said. I honestly feel that this may have been the hardest decision of her life. For once, many lives were actually weighing on her decision. These people were not bluffing. If she went to Jakarta they would make an attempt on her life. I work for a hotel company that owns probably some of the nicest hotels in Jakarta (the ones she would stay at) and terrorists have managed to pass security, bomb our hotels and murder innocent people. There is no doubt in my mind that no water what level of security they provided she would not be safe 1 moment in that city. I don't know why they even scheduled a date in such a dangerous city. Bali would have made much more sense and I bet they would have had much fewer problems had that been the original choice, but at this point it is too late to switch and guarantee safety. I hope these terrorists realize the damage they have done to their country's reputation. No major music star will want to go there for a very long time and I bet Gaga will never step foot in the country.
