Honestly, I've had realised the unfair treatment she gets since years but now the situation is getting ridiculous.

I mean, with her previous recent songs radios refused to play so the songs, because of the 0 support radios were giving, started to fall on itunes.

With MR the situation is different: the song is slaying the charts yet the radios refuse to play it. That's shocking imo.

I suppose they might be apprehensive about Gaga's power and the ability to prevail upon crowds of people. Why would the ydeliberately  refuse to play her songs ? It makes no sense whatsoever but if we delve into the issue we will wake up to some facts attesting to the intentional sabotaging of Gaga's career and success. I am inclined to state that her former manager may have had its part in all of the decay Gaga's been exposed to.

MTE.

Why would they refuse to play a song?If I were them, I couldn't care less about the song or the artist. So Beethoven is top 3 on Itunes right now and has been top 10 for weeks?

People are clearly buying Beethoven's music? If that's what people want, me, as a radio, I'll play the sh*t out of it. And I woudn't even wonder whether if it's radio friendly or not. PEOPLE have been buying it since months, so they wanna hear it.

Ofc this example is absurd but this is how radios MUST work...

... and funniest thing of all is that MR is actually more radio friendly than most of the songs they play.

Seriously, it's like if they take it personal when it comes to Gaga.

Many of my friends that I have made on this site realize I am quite a fan of Katy Perry and I've always enjoyed her music and persona. Nevertheless, I have been the biggest fan of Gaga ever since 2010 and I am so grateful to have been part of the Monster community.

But I need to confess that it bugs me a great deal witnessing how unfairly radio stations and streaming services have been treating Gaga in comparison with Katy.

The very first example is Perfect Illusion which sold around 100 k (digital copies) in the first sales week, which is terrific and not many pop stars acomplished that in 2016. Despite the potential the single had , radio stations dropped the single simply paying dust to Gaga. Now "Chained To The Rhythm" is not doing well (underperforming) on  Itunes and it has not even topped the aforementioned list, yet radio stations seem to be spinning her latest track like crazy.

According to Daily US Radio Updates "Chained To The Rhythm" has already garnered 2059 spins having attracted 18.831 people, whereas Million Reason(the song that has topped the Itunes chart several times) has been out for many weeks and so far it's received 2197 spins and the audience of 8.144.

Just saying it is devastating to see how unfairly it looks and I am not trying to pit two women against each other. I wish to point how biased and manipulated radio stations and streaming services are in a way. Katy is not doing that well at all (the same happened with Rise in summer, Birthday and This Is How We Do), but radio stations are licking her boots no matter what. Million Reasons is loved by a massive group of people ,yet they don't plan to give Gaga a chance.

Thank you Gaga for staying true to yourself and your art!!! I am in awe of your prudence, determination and perseverance. You are already a legend to me and many people out there. Keep on slaying!!!

Ok, so this is my take on the whole thing. Katy Perry, for a lack of better way to describe her is a children's artist. She is the artist that parents, radio Dj's and radio producers know will be a safe bet for their kids to listen too because they don't see her as gaudy, loud, out-there, political or radical in any way. Where as Gaga is the complete opposite. She puts darkness into her music, she expresses her political beliefs through her music and so she's not considered a 'family-friendly' type of artist: she's a radical artist. They make instant assumptions. Katy is pink and bubblegum, Gaga is darkness and blood.

And so when it comes to playing someone on the radio, they are always going to choose Katy, because in there minds she is the safe bet. Her music is always considered happy and child friendly.

At this point, I wouldn't mind if Gaga went indie and released the music she pleases. Without worrying about that singles sh*t and the treatment from radios and media.

She deserves better. Radio today sucks so hard.

But now JOANNE is much more radio-friendly that Gaga's previous pop records. It is country-infused making Gaga much for likeable for a regular American man.

You won't deny Perfect Illusion or Milllion Reasons are the songs that are capable of getting a decent airplay since they are catchy, well-produced and parents, kids even priests will surely enjoy it,

CTTR is kind of a political song taking underhanded jabs at Trump ,plusthe track portrays the sedentary and callous life of many citizens all around the globe. Yet, radio stations are pushing this song hard.

It is bit orwellian really. PI is much better it's not a perfect illusion, it was a perfect illusion where as cttr is saying "it goes on and on and on" really quite sinister and not child friendly. the bit with the rap is mixed up with like suggestion to riot which is really a bad idea.

I always thought payola wasn't real. If it is then why don't more artists use it, including Gaga?

that would be awesome. There is something really fascinating about indie pop artists like Marina And The Diamonds, Foxes, Lana. I mean, everyone is afraid of her not being able to provide good music videos but look at Marina's Family Jewels and Electra Heart era, Lana's Born To Die era. Their music videos are excellent in my opinion and not that high budget.

Sugar, spice, and everything nice.

Yeah basically, giving things to radio stations so that they play your music more. More serious cases of payola can involve money but I believe thats illegal?
