And once again ladies and gentleman, we're pitting women against each other, while the artist we claim to "love" is someone who would advocate for equality, inclusion, and lifting each other up :madge:

Get the pinot ready, because it's turtle time.

Katy makes pure pop GP hits so of course it's going to be big. I like her music, but it's so.... basic? She has a formula that works and she sticks to it, just like Taylor, and with that formula they are guaranteed to get hits.  Are her songs easy on the ears? yes. Are they actually good? Well.....

Hopefully her music matured, from what I heard in the snippet it sounds better than her last lead, Roar

it sounds decent but I cringe so much at the "like a zombie" parts :awkney:

Hey girl, can you hear me?
Are you holding out your heart?
Hey girl, do you feel me?
Sometimes I go too far
Hey girl, it ain't easy
I know it's pulling me apart
But darlin', don't you leave me
Baby, don't you leave me

Hey girl, hey girl
We can make it easy if we lift each other
Hey girl, hey girl
We don't need to keep on one-in' up another
Hey girl, hey girl
Hey girl, hey girl
If you lose your way
Just know that I got you
Just know that I got you

Lady is it lonely?
I been callin' out your name
Tell me that you need me
'Cause I need you just the same
Everyday a heartache
I'm just tryin' to keep it sane
But I know you believe me
Baby don't you leave me

Hey girl, hey girl
We can make it easy if we lift each other
Hey girl, hey girl
We don't need to keep on one-in' up another
Hey girl, hey girl
Hey girl, hey girl
If you lose your way
Just know that I got you

Help me hold my hair back
Walk me home 'cause I can't find a cab
And we dance down the bowery
Held hands like we were 17 again
And then it's 4am
The sun is creepin' up again
Don't you leave me
Oh, darling don't you leave me

Hey girl, hey girl
We can make it easy if we lift each other
Hey girl, hey girl
We don't need to keep on one-in' up another
Hey girl, hey girl
Hey girl, hey girl
If you lose your way
Just know that I got you

Just know that
Just know that I got you
Just know that
Just know that
Just know that
Help me hold my hair back
Walk me home 'cause I can't find a cab
And we dance down the bowery
Held hands like we were 17 again

Free my mind

I guess we'll see after the grammys. Katy's song will obviously go #1 but it's not that good to stay there for a long time tbh. Aren't her 12 year old fans like 16 now they obviously have grown up unlike her music :awkney:

I beg to differ. I vividly remember all the hate posts towards Work when it got released, most of the members here thought it wouldn't even make it to the top 10, now look at how wrong they were.

Also, this "her music is so immature" gimmick has been getting tired since 2013.

Oh yes, everybody knows it is SO easy to write a successful song. Ask Gaga. What do you consider to be good anyway <

Exactly because of songs like Work and Cheap Thrills I think the GP is now more interested in a different kind of sound than what they were in 2013, when Katy managed to dominate the pop game. The song will obviously chart well but I don't see it lasting that long, that's just my opinion.

And I wasn't trying to be hateful, it's the truth, there's no lyrical evolution from her first lead single to this one. That doesn't mean her immature music is bad.

It might at least chart! Obviously not as high as a generic lead from Katy, but I don't think any non-delusional monsters would expect that.

This is true. Even 3/5 of PRISM's singles underperformed. (I know, it did better than ARTPOP, I'm not being a hater). I'm sure the lead will do well, but I wonder how the follow-ups will hold up this time around.

It is nice to live like the 2013 era :D, but a 3rd single does not stand the chance against a lead single, so it is obvious Katy will win.
