EGOT2027 10,894
On Sunday, the woman who became famous by being unapologetically herself while preaching love and acceptance will perform to 100+ million football fans. It is the most straight and mainstream event on television. This woman grew up being told she would never make it. She was told to kill herself. She was told no time and time again. Yet, she consistently proved all of them wrong. And even once she did that, she constantly made her career about us, people she had never really met. There was even a Facebook page dedicated to hating her. Yet, here she is. When Gaga was the "it girl," when she was on top of the world, she made the decision to release an album about equality back when it wasn't cool to be pro-queer. When she could've been pumping out Poker Face replicas to the end of the time, she dedicated herself to an album that was there for many of us when no one else was. I have never spoke a word to Lady Gaga, but for years she has been my outlet. Like many of you, I was the cliche suicidal gay boy in middle school. After awful days of school, I would go up to my room and watch Monster Ball videos and then eventually listen to Born This Way and feel like I was loved, like it was worth sticking around for. And now, that woman, who was there for all us weird kids, will be the center attention of the entire heteronormative world for thirteen minutes. Even if everything goes wrong Sunday, I am so proud to be a part of this family. So many people on this website will likely pick apart the performance and wish there was more, but I am just so thankful. I am so proud to admire a woman who still has the drive to get up every day and rehearse for hours, and then go home to do a stairclimber while singing through the show once more. So many call her the hardest working person in the industry, yet the hardwork was never about making money or even her own fame, it was about us. It was about creating something she knew people who had been ignored would love. Below I have posted my favorite Gaga performance. I encourage you guys to do the same, so that we can reflect on how far we have come as a family. I love you guys, and I love Lady Gaga. Let's spread our message of love with the world this weekend. DeanWinchester 41,390
Gaga deserves this a lot. She is a talented woman and a very kind but brave soul. She has a lot of heart and I'm so happy she gets this chance to show the world just that. Flyin' like a 1000 Doves

Her short speech . When she brings Paige to the stage and starts crying, it breaks my heart and puts it back together. another shot before we kiss the other side
Bio 23,538
I really don't understand this fanbase. We are 2 days from the show and people are already complaining And if Gaga doesn't ****ing fly with her own grown wings, conjure the 4 elements and assassinate Trump while wearing the most crazy dark outfit ever seen by human eyes these so called fans are gonna tear her to shreds. I don't think I'm gonna log on the day of the Superbowl.

It won't be here for a while after Sunday knowing this site. OT: 100 percent yes to everything you said. Gaga has so much determination, ambition, and nerve to get where she wants to be. It's cause of this that I look up to her anytime I feel like I'm going nowhere. Pop in Marry the Night and I'm good to go anywhere, anytime. It makes me tear up when I think of her journey to where she is now, cause it's one I always reflect on when I lose courage. Sunday night is gonna be more than we ever dreamed, because regardless of whether or not our expectations are met, seeing her on the world's biggest stage is gonna be the proudest moment we as Monsters will ever experience. Excuse me as I bawl in the corner. I don't understand pineapples, so I don't eat bananas.

Panchecco 17,636
so true I think this quote from yesterday press conference sums up perfectly why I love her so much and why I am so proud of her: "I have an amazing family and incredible friends and they are there for me everyday but additionally to them when I am working on different projects and I have my up and my down days, as everybody does in their life, it is really my fans that are the reason that I do all of this. They have a tremendous spirit and an outlook on the world on its ability to change, on its power, and I'd say that one of the things I'm most excited about for this halftime show, as much as it is a great moment for me in my life, I really feel like it wasn't given to me, it was given to them. So, essentially, that kid that couldn't get a seat at the cool kids table and that kid that was kicked out of the house because his mom and dad didn't accept him for who he was, that kid is gonna have the stage for 13 minutes and I'm excited to give it to them." This is not a performance but that day was very special to me. The fact that she chose to attend a mainstream event with soldiers who had been discharged because of their sexual orientation is amazing to me. And the way she used the shock value of the meat dress to talk about DADT and to spread the message that we should all join the fight against these types of laws is just so inspiring and incredible to me. PartySick 160,667
3 minutes ago, ARTPOPheartstop said: I don't know, so explain me Well, we all know the song is about sexual assault I have two main insecurities. Traumas, even. I was raised with the hateful word of God in my ear and thought that gay people deserved nothing less than eternal damnation. Come middle school...well, turns out I have a thing for dudes after fighting with that feeling, I found my comfort in a crush turned relationship. That relationship was going great until a little more than a year had passed. We had both fallen into some bad habits, he fell into a bad lifestyle, and he ended up raping me multiple times. Sometimes were were both drugged out or drunk, other times we were both sober. It was terrifying and dehumanizing. Born This Way helped me cope and move on from insecurities stemming from my upbringing and sexual orientation but until Swine came a long, I had resigned myself to suffering from anxiety, depression, and constant nightmares all from those experiences. When she debuted Swine at the iTunes festival, her speech really hit me hard. The song hit me even harder. I can't tell you how many times I played the audio from that performance and then the studio version after it came out It was so freeing. I could just loose myself for a few minutes and I do give credit to Swine for helping me to get up the courage to share my story with my best friends. I've healed a lot since then and it's all thanks to Gaga and that wonderful song The performance at SXSW kind of gave a perfect visual to that feeling. Gaga degraded herself on stage to say "there's nothing you can do to me that I can't do to myself and look how beautiful it is when I do it". It's empowering and freeing. Plus, it's just plain badass! It's the biggest "f*ck you" to the industry that I've ever seen and I love every minute of it You're stinky
