Unpopular opinion: I WANT Gaga to make an artistic political statement at..

...the SuperBowl halftime show. Sorry, not sorry - those who remain politically neutral in our time are willing helpers of the tyrants!!! She wasn't afraid to scream to Obama at the LBTQI+ rallys back then and even phoned the senate at the White House, was joining the DADT protests etc. -- in times like this, with political extremists, demagogues and populists like Trump on one hand and religous fundamentalists and terrorists on the other hand in a violent world full of hunger, poverty and war as well as discrimination and intolerance it is more important than ever to use every chance to speak up on an event like this, we are living in dark times! I don't care if it's "just about sports" and "just about the musical performance". Gaga declared herself an activist and, even more importantly, artist. If she doesn't mention anything regarding the situation of her country right now and the whole world, I honestly will be disappointed.

Not really unpopular, I made a thread about SB and politics two days ago and lots of people said she should

If you see me posting like crazy, I'm either bored or procrastinating.

I love Gaga supporting things she believes in and being political, but the Super Bowl isn't the time or place. It's meant to be fun and exciting while the teams get ready for the next half. She has many other platforms she can be political. Not to mention it can literaly be career suicide

With all the changes that are going to be happening in the future, I'm starting to think it might not be that bad of an idea to make a statement. :awkney:

But at the same time, I just want to enjoy the damn show and not worry about this mess. :saladga:

She should and now is time she should after Trump legallized something she worked so hard for, which is now legal to discriminate against LGBT members.

I think it will come as bland if she doesn't have a single political message, wheter a dress, an image, a muslim choir, etc. She has always been persistent that if she has the power, what should she do. Well girl has the mic, she's a self proclamed missionary of many causes.

And most of all, she clearly would like to say something, because she has a message. Joanne is very feminist in it's essence, BTW was very political, but has to be done in a smart way.

I reckon BEyonce was a bit gimmick-ish but did it in a very smart way. I don't know it can be the choreography representing a scene of a united world vs a world with barriers, like it's so simple she just has to bring back her iconic Ellen performance as the statue of liberty and together with other women recreate Pink Floyd's video, and probably cover the song. lol

The only effect it would have is people not caring because "here she goes again preaching, just sing damn it" :saladga:

Whatever she feels like doing is good with me, from making a dramatic statement to something more low key.

Me too honestly. I hope she makes a political splash on Sunday. She's always been a statement piece so everyone's expecting it. lol

At the end of the day I'm probably going to be extremely content with whatever she decides to do. I'm just so ****ing happy she's performing.

She can make a political statement, but I don't want what should be a celebration of her career to be made all about Trump. It's supposed to be a joyful moment, and she can and has shown her resistance in other ways.

You know, before Trump took office I would've said no, she should just do her set, if she makes a statement, there will be backlash, etc. But now, seeing as the majority of the US, not to mention many countries around the world, are against Trump, I say go for it Gags, let him have it :firega:

artistic statement, a metaphor, yes, sure, I'm up for that

screaming, grunting with her rock vocals, no thank you.. and no sob stories, tearful speeches either.... although I doubt she would do that, as the show is too short
