Unless there is impending threat of a nuclear war, I wouldn't expect to see much from either. Maybe during a second term, if there is a second term. Maybe some during the election in three years, but only with Obama then.

Looking back at history, this is how former Presidents and candidates have supported the country.

I don't think Obama will stay silent, he has a lot of influence and it'd be a shame to waste it

He criticized the Bush administration multiple times during its run

Not the same as being out & about showing your face & participating in(visual) public discourse, which is what you want her to do tho...

So what would happen if she did that?

Have you heard from him yet?

There's your answer.

He is a former President, no longer an elected official.

So what would happen that'd be so bad if he trashed Trump?

It undermines his importance and puts him at the level as everyone else. When he does speak out, it will be because he feels that something is seriously dangerous or important. If he speaks out against everything he disagrees with (which would pretty much be everything at this point) then it devalues and normalizes his words.

That's why we see former Presidents write books, give paid speeches, raise money for libraries or start a charity organization.

Obama is not going to behave like a current US congress member or any current elected official. You will be sorely disappointed if you expect him to.

Yes, I think the only former president to buck this trend was Jimmy Carter!  Who had no problem criticizing Bush W. left, right, and sideways...  😂😂👌🏾
