Because I assumed others did, those who are trying to explain this story for 3 pages now.

Why are you saying in public what is happening with reports and who's reporting and who's not?  You want to discuss moderation?

It's best to go ahead and report it yourself because you can never be sure whether something's reported or not by others :omg: You asked why mods hadn't changed the title publicly, not me :laughga: If you want a title changed because you think it's inaccurate then you're meant to report it, just letting you know for future's sake

Oh right:omg:

There's a difference between me asking something obvious and you saying here what is happening behind closed doors with reports and why specific user didn't submit report. I thought that's not allowed.

There were other users mentioning inaccuracy in title too and then some others kept on commenting on it, without knowing the whole story. :spin:

Hope you won't continue to pick on users for future's sake.

If you can try to call us out for not doing something then we're allowed to question why when you haven't done your part  If you want something changed then it's your responsibility to report it to the moderators, that's all there is to it and let's leave it at that for the thread's sake :laughga:

BLM is the worst.

Creating even more hate and division everywhere they go.

They haven't accomplished anything other than that.

Pride is for everybody, including the brave men and women (some of which are of color or are LGBT) that protect us.

This is disgraceful and disgusting. Almost as bad as when the BLM protestors hijacked and protested the funerals of the Orlando shooting victims.

NOBODY SHOULD BE BANNED FROM A ****ING PRIDE EVENT

I tend to side with BLM, mostly because I support the overall equality movement, but this bit is pretty spot on. I honestly feel bad for the LGBT+ cops and allies in blue :noparty:

Ok I get that having a police float may cause some triggering but I what difference does it make? The police department isn't going to change their ways only because you don't let them have a float. The only thing that is going to come out of this is people being pissed at BLM. It's also quite stupid to have them banned from marching but still have police to patrol the event.

BLM is an important movement that has been handled terribly by SOME of their supporters.

If we want to create a society were no one is judged by who they are or what they do then we should probably stop doing it ourselves. Generalizing the whole police department is not helping the cause, just like generalizing the whole BLM movement as a bunch of radicals or thugs is wrong.

Well when you consider the fact that historically the police have never been about protecting but rather caging and criminalizing people and that this has disproportionately impacted African-Americans and leading to outrageous levels of them in prison compared to white people, we can't exactly blame a movement for black lives to not want something like this.

You think a community that has historically been brutalized and continues to be so to this day to feel safe when those who are supposedly there to protect but in reality only criminalized them?

You think a community that has historically been brutalized and continues to be so to this day to feel safe when those who are supposedly there to protect but in reality only criminalized them?

Muslims, Christians and many other religious groups have historically tortured, raped, imprisoned, ostracized and murdered LGBT people for centuries and many of them still do it today. Does that mean we should ban all religious people from the event, even those who are actively trying to support it?

Part of the reason we've made strides in civil rights over the past few decades is because we've actively reached out to those who oppose us and tried to bridge some kind of understanding and tolerance. We did not do it by segregating people based on their religion, occupation, gender etc.

By banning LGBT police officers who want to show their support for the community, they are only increasing animosity and distrust between the police and the LGBT community, which is absolutely destructive to our movement. For example, one of the reasons domestic violence in the LGBT community is so high is because LGBT people are less likely to try to get help from the police.

I really don't understand this new "progressive" thinking that increasingly supports segregation in the name of social justice. How do the people who support this action actually think this is going to make things better for anyone?

I don't agree with this.

So many LGBT+ hate crimes go unreported because many members of the community feel like the police don't care for them. I get that this is BLM's whole mantra but it seems counter intuitive to remove their float which symbolises their support with the community.

Isn't it hypocritical to be bias against all police officers by banning them at a pride event that celebrates the LGBT community? Isn't the LGBT community ultimately trying to tear down bias?

This is a case of a distinct group of people having been representative of the oppression against the LGBT and other minority communities. It's not just excluding a group because we don't like the way they dress or because they had explosive shits in the class back in grade 2. From what I understand the Toronto pride thing started not as a celebration of being gay, cause I can assure you no one was openly celebrating their non-traditional sexual preferences back then, but because in protest of the way they were being treated. So don't casually throw the very real concerns of other groups to the side because they're fighting for the same thing.

What they did and was threaten the livelihoods of people. All they're getting is their feelings hurt. They are in no way the same. Criticizing law enforcement doesn't mean you cannot respect them and the work that they do and it should be understandable that barring them from participating in their uniforms isn't a condemnation.

Y'all be talking about this like this is the end of LGBT-police relations and the beginning of an era of anarchy and chaos. There all a lot of places to build understanding outside of the Parade cause the gays exist all year around.

Y'all lack so much empathy on here its unbelievable

I've always wondered why haven't the police community extended an olive branch out to BLM and maybe make that decision to actually support them and walk with them hand in hand side by side . Maybe That will change things why is the onus always on the community that's being oppressed .

Considering that BLM activists have murdered police (Dallas for example) I'm not sure either side is ready to "extend an olive branch".

The lack of empathy on behalf of police is beyond sick. Especially our brave LGBT officers who are doing their best to protect the community. The horrible things police have to endure, whether it's being gunned down for no reason like the woman officer in Miami or Dallas or Baton Rogue or the New York cops ambushed and shot. BLM needs an exercise in empathy just as well as anyone else - and demanding to ban all officers from Pride is not doing that. And no, they ARE banned from Pride. Not being allowed to be an officer in the parade is being banned.

Title has been changed to make it clear that Police have, in fact, been banned from the parade. There will be no police, police floats, police uniforms, etc. in the parade due to Black Lives Matter demands. Stop silencing the truth.

Changing it to just 'floats' is not what happened. It's police entirely (obviously police will be on duty around the event but none are allowed to participate and that is made CLEAR in the article).
