I'm so proud of Katy for standing for what she believes in. Joanne could never.

Comparing a Muslim registry to internment camps isn't right though.

Her Twitter-bio is "Artist. Activist. Conscious." :diane:

Her coming of age/equality/serious era is in the works. No doubt about it. Slay us, Katheryn.

I can see what she's trying to do but this comment on the video sums my feelings up pretty well:

"Do not compare being on a list with being held in camps against your will. It's not right to have a Muslim registry, but it's also not right to make a false equivalency with such a serious case of civil rights abuses."

Obviously a Muslim registry is a terrible idea but being forcibly taken from your home and put into an internment camp is much worse.

I actually think that the video was extremely well executed, very nice job Katy :applause:

The message is also great, I would maybe just clarify a bit more, since those two things only look the same but are really not and the reasons behind them are different.

However, glad she's doing a powerful thing like this! Finally something age appropriate for her (no shade, just a good move for her in the recent time imo that's not super fabricated by her team)

The comparison even came from Trump's camp

You should also see what George Takei said about that

The idea of a database that tracks Muslims ― which Trump appeared to fully support when he was asked about it early on the campaign trail ― was seconded by Carl Higbie Wednesday. In an interview with Fox News’ Megyn Kelly, Higby, who served as spokesman for a pro-Trump super PAC, said the proposal would “pass Constitutional muster.”

“There is precedent for it,” he said.

But Takei, who was interned with his family in wartime, shot back with articulate fury Thursday on MSNBC’s “The Last Word with Lawrence O’Donnell.”

“It is not a precedent,” Takei said in the MSNBC exchange. “It is the most disgraceful chapter of American history.”

“Registration of any group of people, and certainly registration of Muslims, is a prelude to internment,” he said later. “This is something that we cannot have happen again. It is dangerous and it is a moral bankruptcy. We’ve got to stand up and resist this, and I would urge all good Americans to write to your congressional representatives and the president-elect and tell them that this is not what we stand for as a nation.”

There are American Japanese who were in those camps, they see it as very similar and prelude to what's about to happen. Thousands have signed George Takei's petition.

Sorry, since I'm not from the US, but I am pretty much involved in all of the stuff that's happening, can you elaborate this?

I get that it's possible that history will actually repeat itself if this happens, I'm just saying that i think that the circumstances were totally different back in 42', and that if something similar does happen today, people definitely won't just stay quiet about it!
