"Ryan Gosling’s Golden Globes speech about Eva Mendes wasn't cute, it was sexist."

"Despite the swooning on social media for his Notebook-esque outpouring, I can’t help but feel that Mendes, an award-winning actor in her own right, took one for the team and provided the emotional labour needed for Gosling to further his own career."

Do you agree? Or do you think this writer needs to have a seat? :trollga:

I think they're making a big stink over nothing.

I just heard about Tom Hiddleston's speech being a mess, trying to make his speech about Sudan and ending it with boasting about how Sudan people love him. :chica:

I think the writer has a point, it doesn't make Ryan Gosling an evil person, but it does seem relevant to a larger cultural discussion about the roles men and women take at home and the different pressures and expectations they face.

Tom Hiddleston's speech was self serving and took a tragedy in South Sudan and ignored the victims.

I actually appreciated that Ryan highlighted how Eva sacrificed so he could succeed in the role? I felt like he explained that she did not need to do that...

I don't see a problem with it. Feminism encourages the right for a woman to choose her position in life. It's unrealistic to force a woman out of motherhood for the sake of feminism. If she's fine raising her kids then let her raise her kids.
