Alleged kidnapping in Chicago shown on Facebook Live, 4 in custody

Four people were arrested in Chicago Wednesday in connection with a "sickening" video posted to social media that allegedly shows the individuals committing a "brutal act" toward a mentally challenged man, Chicago Police Superintendent Eddie Johnson said at a press conference following the arrests.

While on patrol Tuesday on Chicago's West Side, police officers encountered the victim, who "didn't seem right" and was in "in distress," Chicago Police Capt. Steven Sesso said at the press conference. The victim was then transported to a nearby hospital for treatment.

Around the same time, the suspects were taken into custody for another incident near the address where the victim was found, Capt. Sesso said. A Chicago Police press release further explained that the officers "responded to a battery at a residence ... where they discovered signs of a struggle and damage to the property and were able to link this evidence to the disoriented male."

Police determined that the individuals arrested were responsible for the "injury and maltreatment" of the victim, Capt. Sesso said.

Officials later became aware of a social media video depicting a battery of an adult male which is believed to be the same individual, police said.

The #BLMkidnapping hashtag being used by the AltRight on twitter to circulate this story is of course unfortunate, but the fact that there is no mention of the attacker's racial motivations in the ABC News article included at the top of this thread, or in almost all mainstream coverage of this story, is more disturbing. This is a hate crime.

I haven't looked that much into the story but I read that the police chief residing over the case said that he was targeted for his mental disability, not his race.

First of all this site needs to stop taking things out of context. I'm not justifying ANYTHING. And you don't know what I am so you should stop misjudging before knowing someone.

Thank god they caught these 4 disgusting animals & arrested them!  This is Most DEFINITELY a Hate Crime!  In 2 different ways actually, disability & race.

But the fact that your comment didn't even seem to acknowledge that this was a vile hate crime is the thing that disturbs me, you went directly into what the right is doing.
