Will the Joanne era music videos affect Gaga's 2017 Vanguard award chances?

I thought it'd be a good question to ask and an interesting topic to discuss. 2017 could be Gaga's year for the VG award. I remember some users here thought she'd be a no brainer for 2017 after LG5's release (as per discussions prior to Joanne's announcement)

I feel like MTV would probably take into account the impact of her recent videos (PI and MR) which, while PI was significantly better than the latter, both seemed insanely half assed. Gaga's videography was the definition of iconic (bar TEOG ) before the Joanne era. But then again her videography is so solid she may just be able to fall back on her older stuff

I would've thought the Joanne music videos would only help, they show that she doesn't just create spectacles for music videos but personal visuals that can evoke emotion, thus giving her a wider range of music video genres

The Joanne videos aren't gonna help her get the award. If she doesn't get it this year for her earlier videos we'll have to wait for LG6.

Rihanna got it. So gaga can definitely get it even if these new music videos are horrible.

Her new music videos aren't the most horrible thing in the world though. Sure, they may not be up to the same standard, production-wise, as her older videos, but it's not like it's going to end the world.

I thought Perfect Illusion had a fine video, and while I'm definitely not totally in love with the MR video, I think that there was a lot of over exaggeration when it came to peoples' reactions.

That's ridiculous, but I hope she gets the award in 2018, when it's her 10th anniversary of the release of THE FAME.
