phobiafied 105 Posted January 3, 2017 Share Posted January 3, 2017 Donatella was one of the first songs I loved on ARTPOP, from the first listen. personally, to me it is like a spiritual successor to the song BTW. It's about choosing to own yourself, flaws and all, no matter what people in the world might perceive you to be. It is both clever and fun to listen to in the way it conveys that message, as opposed to BTW which (while I love it) always comes off to me as a bit too preachy. Just cause she pokes fun at being vapid at the beginning doesn't mean its empty. It's just as fun and meaningful as the songs you stated were.
