retrosexual123 862 Posted January 2, 2017 Share Posted January 2, 2017 Hi guys So after seeing how this era is turning out I have come to a realisation about Bobby: Before Joanne we thought he would be great, save Gaga from slavery, give us hits and performances, and be a GOOD manager. Turns out that he isn't a good manager, not because we don't have hits, but because it seems like he has zero input into Gaga's career. Ultimately with Bobby as Gaga's manager, gaga is her own manager. She decides what to do (put out the million reasons video for example) and Bobby, either because he is useless and out of touch with the GP, or because if he doesn't do what Gaga wants he will be the next one out, and Bobby just does the day to day running of her business. With Troy it was different because he decided where Gaga's career went, he was a real manager, albeit a very insensitive and money eating pig, but at least he took control of her career and took it to great heights. Now that Gaga is managing herself, she has more personal space, but to be honest, she is not an expert at managing a worldwide superstar. She doesn't know what is gonna work ,where to perform etc... This is the real reason this era is flopping in terms of charts and cutlural penetration. Joanne has sold pretty well worldwide because of us Little Monsters, adn that is good, because I know for sure, i will buy every single album Gaga puts out, but she is not getting any new fans, and the ones she is getting are just making up for the ones she lost for not making cool chart topping bops or cool videos. Who agrees that Bobby is not doing the job of a pop superstar manager but just acting on what Gaga decides and managing the logistical side of Gaga's decisions? I feel this is bad, because Gaga has a lot of pressure now. it's all down to her. She needs someone who she can trust, yes, but she also needs someone who can carry 'her business' to great places. Had Joanne been released closer after the Grammys/SB/Oscars, it'd probably be a smash album. However, for all we know, Gaga just might not want to get out anymore. But I kind of agree at some points, but I think the reason why Gaga is toned down is because she needs to work on her Super Bowl performance. Glamourpuss 29,062 Posted January 2, 2017 Share Posted January 2, 2017 I think Gaga is more than qualified to make these decisions about her own career as she has lived through it and experienced it this whole time. She knows what works for her and what the best schedule is. I think we need to trust her and have more faith that she knows what she is doing. The whole point of being an artist is that you are authentic and true to yourself. You aren't supposed to be a business raking in the money. Don't get me wrong, the money is a bonus but she needs to do what her heart wants. For example, she never wanted to do a perfume but did it because she was forced to. The second one didn't get much publicity because she took control back of her career. I do doubt her abilities at times but last year was one of the best of her careers with all the tributes and showing off her voice. The Joanne era is lacking the craziness and the magnificent visuals we have come to love but Gaga is being true to herself and seems happy for her career to play out in the way that it is doing. And she is still successful. I think so many people get hung up on the charts and what their idea of success is that they don't realise that Gaga's meaning of success is something totally different. But, we also need the hits. If not, she is going to turn up at these events and she has two options: - only sing JD, Poker Face, Bad Romance and... Applause(!?) and have the GP enjoy it, sing along, and remember her for these hits - or sing her new songs and have everyone not know the lyrics and dismiss it. THIS will ruin her GP career. Every era we hear "This is what Gaga wants!!" and every era we find out it isn't, because it will never be unless she takes full control, which I hope she never does when making pop. There's a budget to stick to, a time schedule and profits to be made. Is Bobby a good manager? I think he could be. He's been keeping Gaga happy and staying on top the ball. It's hard to dismiss him when he's going to see her through the Superbowl and probably Glastonbury. We'll have to wait to see how Gaga does before we can judge his work really.
