PUT YOUR HANDS UP!!!" and then Lana Del Rey will float in from somewhere and Gaga will swing her up onto the back of her horse and ride around the field for a triumphant Sinner's Prayer. The next day the video will drop. It's really catchy and sounds commercial, and hasn't been pushed heavily already like A-Yo. Diamond Heart would flop, sorry. It's an incredible song though, top 5 on Joanne. It has Perfect Illusion's not-at-all-on-trend rock infusions but with milder punch, and with a weaker hook. I'd love to see an artsy music video for the song though, maybe with burlesque dancers or something. But otherwise no. Cherish the song as an album cut, but as a standalone single it's a wash. If I were to join the Little Chartsters and bet on which songs would do best, I'd put my money on AYO and John Wayne. I'd let go of hoping for a top ten hit this time though. It's just not your era. This album was meant to validate her as a musician, not seize radio again. The fact that there are no obvious smash singles on Joanne is proof of it.
