Everybody has a reason to stan an artist and something which every artists shares.

For me it's pain. Every artist I stand shares a history of pain and loss, something I can identify the most.

What's your reason?

I need them to:

- Write their own songs

- Be able to sing them live

- Be interesting, original and kind

Lady Gaga, Lorde, Allie X, Lily Allen, Lana del Rey, Marina and The Diamonds. You know, that kind of artists.

Depth, how relevant their music is to my life and whether or not there is longevit there.

I like my sh!t to be secure and long term. That applies to my favs.

Life ain't Hollywood for any one of us.

Same.

Michael had a tough childhood and so did I. His kind, loving personality and yearning for that innocence that was stolen from him as a youth helped me to protect some of that in myself. The result is that I made it through my turbulent younger years and the hell that was my teens and came out on the other side being the happy, generous, and loving person I am now. He never let me become a cynical mess even though everything was pushing me to that point. Plus some of his songs truly resonate with me. "Someone in the Dark", "Scared of the Moon", "Childhood", "Stranger in Moscow", and quite a few others...man :S

Gaga really helped me through my teenage years just as Michael did with my childhood. Through discovering that I was gay (after being raised to be homophobic, conservative, and religious), surviving sexual assault and drug addiction, her music and her story really touched me and helped me to move on. Of course, today I do live with quite a few insecurities and mental health issues but she's touched on those as well. Having her, her Monsters, and the amazing friends I have really help me cope and speak frankly about such things, which helps me heal

And Britney :oprah: well, her story (the breakdown and all) really breaks my heart. Though she doesn't really impact who I am, I love her for how strong she is. The fact that she's a happy mother and still doing what she loves today is something I truly admire :yay:

Madonna Ariana Gaga are the most interesting to me. I don't know what they have in common. :green:

Their music in general (lyrics, melodies etc.)

But the factor I value the most in an artist is authenticity and how they perform live (if they are able to sing their own songs live well)

Artistry. My main faves are Gaga and Shakira, I know what they're capable of but they're also great people who care for others and have contributed a lot.

The ability to sing live is most important.

And using their fame to make the world a better place. Beyonce, take notes if you want a new stan.
