They are both growers IMO. And none of them is easy to dance to. But I do it anyway. I sort of semi-Vogue to Applause (I call it Vaguing) and slam-dance like a punk to Perfect Illusion. The amount of energy and rage in PI definitely outweighs Applause. Feels more authentic too, musically. The verses on Applause are strange, and the song is somewhat unrelatable in comparison to PI. I like every other song on Joanne, ARTPOP, Born this Way, The Fame Monster and The Fame, although I like some songs more than others, of course. I just don't like the guitar sound in the intro for PI, and I don't like the chorus. PI has it's place on the album, and I never skip it, but I would never seek it out, either.
