Where the disconnect is right now though I think is that Gaga has different career goals and definitions of success now than she used to. It's like a successful wall street broker suddenly deciding to give up the high society lifestyle and go run a small non-profit because it gives him a deeper meaning to his life. Many people will still not understand giving up the competitive world of wall street and will consider him a failure, even though he is personally more satisfied.
