The rock scene won't really embrace her because she's still Lady Gaga and the audience for rock is less compared to pop. If people want her to go down the rock route then you'd have to prepare yourself for less theatrics, promo and appearances. She can hold a career in rock but it's not going to propell her into super stardom again like some believe. Well is doing pop for even longer going to save her? How many female pop stars do you know of who are doing well after their mid 30s? I honestly don't know the tour figures, so please enlighten me, but I doubt there are more than a handful. Also there are plenty of theatrics outside pop. Look at Marylin Manson for example. Metallica is selling extremely well right now. U2 has the highest grossing tour ever. Of course these are all males (and bands), so the comparison isn't great, but maybe that's a niche that Gaga can fill.

It would be a waste of all the rebranding she's done in the last 2+ years. In fact, she needs to start moving away from pop because she's approaching her best before date very quickly, as crude as that sounds. She needs to start moving in the rock direction. Pop music will chew you up and spit you out, unless you're Madonna/P!nk/etc. by a certain age. Anyway, she has yet to show her writing talents outside the pop world and I really want to see it. She could just redefine what pop is buy bionic

Maybe once she finally stops being afraid of what people think of her, she might put out a great and daring album that could do that. The Fame, The Fame Monster and Born This Way were the albums that had in some ways redifined the pop scene
Oivind 287
Isn't the album doing well, though? And even better in Brazil. Why does she need smash hits, when plenty of people listen to the album? I would rather see her continue on the path she's on, and collaborate with some rock stars instead. Imagine how awesome a collaboration with Springsteen would be.

You've got so many artists that are working and still doing relatively well. People don't get afraid of Katy/Rih/Adele sticking to their lanes so I don't see why Gaga is any different. Well Manson established himself as a rock star so he has the authenticity. Whilst I'm not saying Gaga doesn't I very much doubt the rock community would fully embrace a pop-turned Jazz-turned rock singer. Especially as you have said she is also female which has an even lesser market. Im not saying theres no theatrics in rock because thats silly but you won't be seeing Gaga half as much at the mainstream events we like to see her at if she went completely rock because there isn't as big of an audience. BloodyJudas 2,758
The problem with "JOANNE" is neither a hit-packed album nor a critically acclaimed albums (It got mixed reviews). Lemonade is the album that everybody is talking about when it comes to critical acclaim and legacy. Gaga took pains to create the album that was meant to impress music critics but in some ways to no avail. Still, it is quite a good album but at the same time it doesn't stand out. Let's be real here. The only reason Gaga collaborated with Tony was the fact she wanted to escape from the pop music scene for awhile and she just thought it was all she needed to come back stronger and more likeable. Changing lanes in music may also mean you are not confident when it comes to your music and that;s why you do many things in one fell swoop. If ARTPOP had been a smash hit, Gaga would not have even taken jazz collaboration into account. She would have pursued with another smash pop record. I want to see how all these artists hold up when they hit their mid thirties. I especially want to see how Katy fares with her new album. I have a strong feeling it will not do nearly as well as Prism. And just generally speaking, Gaga is a consummmate musician and peforme; perhaps the foremost of modern pop stars. Are people really not interested in hearing a non-pop album written by her? She has so much to offer.

She is yet to peak and I am positive her team will make sure she stays on top of the pop game. We musn't forget she has a massive streaming power, teen girls ,casual listeners and radios to back her up. I would not be worried about her. Plus, she is still young and looks much younger. Plus, she has already scored enough hits to play them for the rest of her career

But Gaga has always been and always will be number one in my heart She is human a being and she is entitled to make mistakes just like we do! I think monsters tend to take extreme points of view when it comes to Gaga-one saying she doesn't need hits and the bling, others claiming she will go under unless she goes commercial again. Personally,I think no one expects Katy to do crazy and artistic stuff. She is a pop singer who has found her lane and formula to stay relevant. I would hate to see Gaga doing what Katy does and it also goes the other way around. I hope Gaga goes back to being Gaga with her next pop endeavor
