You are right, it is up to her and as long as she is happy, I guess we will be too (or at least some of us) but unless she steps up her game and comes up with some relatable and great stuff, she can't complain that she will not collect another big hit. It's not about her being above them, it's about her constantly trying to differentiate herself from them. Rihanna and Nicki come from different worlds, it's normal for rappers and urban artists to collaborate frequently. I'd prefer Gaga to reach out more to more artists like Florence Welch rather than an artist like Ariana Grande. Gaga's brand is 'different', Gaga's brand is more outcast or rebellious. A collab with Nicki Minaj or Katy Perry doesn't help her brand, it tarnishes it. It's no shade to those artists either, again it's not about her being above them, it's just that she has built a career on being a different and non-conventional figure in pop music - collaborating with the hot acts of the moment doesn't reflect that brand.
