If Gaga performs at the anti-Trump concert, what should her setlist be?

An event like this has value. It sends a clear message to the rest of the world, and to the historians who will document this time in American history, that the our President Elect is uniquely unpopular and that the majority of voters rejected his ideology.

At one point in time Gaga would have been the perfect artist for such a polarizing performance. I think that time has passed. She wouldn't want to risk loosing her slot at the Brain Damage Cover Up Convention, brought to you by Pepsi-Cola.

But a thirty minute Swine performance would be appropriate. With gallons of real vomit. In a cat costume covered with tiny doll hands.

Why would she lose her slot? Beyoncé did a performance against police brutality at the show itself. Why would Gaga get in trouble for this?

Police brutality is a social issue, while an anti-Trump inauguration is explicitly partisan. There is also a difference in timing. Gaga performing at such a polarizing event only a few days before the Super Bowl is risky because the advertisers could put pressure on the NFL to replace her, which they couldn't do to Beyonce.

The NFL had to hear Gaga's new album before they would give her the Half Time slot. They aren't messing around with how their performers are perceived.

it might be partisan but it's no less controversial and no less political.

I'm sure you understand that sponsors can't put pressure on the NFL to change their half time performer during that artist's performance, in the same way they can put pressure on the NFL to change their half time performer before their performance.

I can't waste another key stroke discussing a political statement a Lady Gaga will never make. Merry Christmas.

You make a good point there, they can't pressure while she says in stage but wouldn't the advertisers know what the artist plans to do if it's so important?

And don't be so sure Gaga won't do it. They're already trying to find a venue for the concert and according to politico big stars are lining up. Gaga would likely do it if it happens.

I'd be thrilled if she performed at this event. I'd be thrilled if she used her platform at the Super Bowl to make an important political statement.

But with her diminished cultural impact, pressure from the NFL, and the sucess of a forthcoming major motion picture riding on her back, I just don't think she is willing to risk potentially alienating anyone.

Born This Way (open with some energy and a powerful message)

Come To Mama (continuing the message but slowing down a little)

Angel down (duh, where are our leaders?)

Just Another Day (an upbeat, light, hopeful song to finish on, but still relevant)

P.S. I think Americano would be awesome too, but I doubt it'd get performed. Maybe a less dancy version? I'd pop a calmer version in my setlist between CTM and AD to help slow it down right there.

I'll be myself until they fūcking close the coffin.
