Will "delete" ever be available on GGD?

I think there is probably coding problems that would be caused by that. Like Lego said, we used to have it, but we have to update our forums. So that means upgrading to systems that don't allow us to delete comments.

Maybe a "make it invisible" option then. I mean, the content wouldn't be deleted from GGD database but users wouldn't be able to see it anymore.

No. Delete thread option should only be accesible to mods exclusively.

Yes people make mistakes, so suck it up and deal with the responsibilities/consequences that follows rather than trying to cover up and run away from it. That way people will learn to not to make the same mistakes again.

I don't get why we should be educated by GGD mods but I respect your opinion.

Perhaps you should discuss this in the Support section rather than 'Gaga thoughts'

:D

There's a great downside to members being able to delete threads. If you want your threads to be removed please report them. You are allowed to edit your replies as well so there's no need for necessarily deleting anything. As long as you follow the site rules you'll be fine.

Think of it this way. We already have tons of threads that's created by the second, purely for personally attacking other members. Being able to delete a whole thread just opens that window wide open.

I get it. So, let's think a little more before posting something even thought it won't work because our hands sometimes act by themselves. :D

So I can't delete my posts because I have to learn life lessons in the process of gossiping and judging celebrities?..... ok

it would be neat to have the delete button so you dont feel embarrassed about what you have posted on GagaDaily

The option to delete topics you've made would be a nice addition, likely wouldn't cause a lot of harm either.

I don't think non-moderators should be able to delete threads (unless no one else has replied), because that would mean you could delete other people's comments. But I'm not seeing the problem with deleting your own comments. (?) Yes you can edit them away, but then there's a blank space left.

I didn't consider that. Perhaps there could be a system of some sort. Similar to how you can't create threads until you've made a certain amount of posts. So, perhaps after you've reached a certain amount of posts or likes, or have just established credibility on here, you can be granted the ability to delete threads you've created, if under reasonable circumstances. And I've never had to edit my post to the point of a blank space anyways, since I usually try not to comment things I'll regret .

I think the absence of a delete button could be a good way for any one of us to actually think for a few seconds before you post. And you can allways edit a post to death and hope no one noticed!

Honestly, with the Internet we *have* to start thinking about what we post. I read a while ago (in a newspaper. You know those large things made of paper?) that our brains need seven seconds to feel empathetic to something, i.e. more time tham your average Facebooker or Tweeter.

And I'm not saying that e v e r y thing I post is well balanced/well behaved, but I do try. Hard. So hard...mmm.

There used to be the 'Hide' function which was cool in its own way, but then yeah users can just insult someone and then hide it before it's reported and then the mods may never know about it :spin: If you ever want a post or topic removed then just report it and a mod will do that for you ASAP

tbh what we REALLY need is bigger avatar sizes, I'd much rather that than a delete button. @Admin

At the end of the day this site has rules that need to be followed, which everyone here agreed to upon registration  If you break them then yes you do need to be told not to, so in the future it hopefully won't happen again

edit: Nobody's gonna get warned or in trouble for wanting a regular post hidden or anything, :laughga:

It takes 5 seconds to report a post you want hidden, and it takes 10 seconds for a mod to deal with that report. I think 15 seconds overall for the hidden post situation is nothing much at all, and completely worth it if it means users that would abuse the delete/hide function and use it for evil aren't able to :omg:

I miss the old Gagadaily format. It was more aesthetically pleasing, especially on mobile, and even though a lot of the kinks were worked out, the traffic to the site and community was never the same. :(
