In my honest opinion it only shows that radio 'people' have something directly against her as an artist. It just can't be because of the song this time, we all know that. By "against her" I only mean that they...like...don't take her seriously anymore or something?! I just don't know, I'm just trying to find the answer to her tragic relationship with radio

Let me show you the light:

She does not pay them to play her songs .That's it.

Don't come with your blindness and try to say payola does not exists. How can you explain that trash song from marom 5  with over 110M AI ?

It's sad, but it's just how the music industry works. :grr:

Have a nice day.

It's just very hard to rebound from a flop lead single. Very very hard. Usually that's a sure-fire way of killing an entire album cycle. That's why the decision to go with PI over AYO or MR will always blow my mind. Wouldve AYO been massive? No, but it wouldnt have been the commercial bomb that PI was. And MR wouldve been a #1 hit easy.

Both will probably go to radio (AYO next), but after the momentum stopping release of PI.. They'll both do mediocre when they both could've been memorable signature hits.

The fact that her team thought PI is the best choice for a lead is just.....sad. She should really really think through who are the people choosing her singles in the future. Like seriously. PI is okay but as a lead single? And they knew very well how important it is to please the radio this time cause she was already struggling anyways...ughh. But what is done is done and me and my crying doesn't help so....yeah.

The fact that Gaga moved on from PI really quickly just shows that it wasn't her decision to maked PI a lead single. She's so lucky to have a big unbearable ego, a label full of braindead people and a *** manager who can't turn her into a streaming artist

At the end of the day, I'm happy with how the Joanne era has went. I won't give up hope about MR until it's truly dead though, and I won't give up on the era until it's completely dead.

O my gosh lol. Million Reasons would not of easily hit number 1. If Gaga released a folk ballad as her lead the little monsters would of had way bigger meltdowns than they did for Perfect Illusion.

A-YO, John Wayne, even Diamond Heart would of been better leads than Million Reasons.

I mean ultimately it was Interscope who picked it and Gaga and her team going "ok, why not". I remember that German Interscope people were like "Oh my god, this is a surefire #1" when Gaga premiered the song privately in Berlin. :chica:

lmao, I don't think MR would have gone number one, simply because streaming is hard with ballads, but it would definitely be a huge hit, the inevitable fan meltdowns wouldn't change that. John Wayne and Diamond Heart would have gone the same way as PI, don't try and convince yourself different.

The thing is that if MR was a lead single, it would've gotten a radio deal as well which would lead to great call out scores. That enough would've been enough for MR to not get dumped by the radio

I would have done singles like this

1. Million Reasons (a top 5 smash)

2. A-YO ( a cute top 20 hit)

3. Dancin' In Circles (a cute top 20 hit)

No other songs on the album would smash imo but Joanne and Come To Mama could be nice, at any rate, they wouldn't hurt radio, especially since it's a later single.

Sadly we will never know.

At the end of the day Joanne was never meant to have a plethora of hit singles.  It was made to change the trajectory of her career. It's selling good and will get serious critics/people to take her more seriously in the future.   Gaga is playing the long term game.

This. If MR was the lead it would have been a hit, deal with it.

Anyway, reminder that Joanne debuted with 200k+ and is on its way to 600k SPS, despite single choices.

:nick:

Love me some positivity

I think if Dancin' In Circles with a feature would have been the lead (or at least 2nd single) it would have helped Gaga's streaming numbers immensley :hor:.

too risky for a lead or even second single imo. Radio is more forgiving for later singles so it's better to release risky singles later.

Remember all those radio hosts praising Perfect Illusion so much before it came out  Oh god I was so damn excited for the era
