Joanne is selling very well. 2nd highest female debut of 2016 and around 400.000 copies in US in 3 months is amazing. Other pop artists with successful singles that were all over radio and streaming services haven't even reached these numbers yet. I don't know why you all set the standards so high. For my standards  she's doing great. Thats exactly What i was saying you can't compare. But if people are going to compare then compare what each were doing 8-9 years into their careers. And by the way Rebel Heart is close to one million sold WW. And that is also great for someone that's been in the game for so long.

Gaga not even 10. At that stage in Madonna career she released Vogue and Justify My Love both which went to number one and The Immaculate Collection came out and sold 30 million copies WW. Joanne is no blockbuster.  It is modestly successful and not the train wreck a lot of people thought it would be. Will it have a legacy with no hit singles? Probably not. I think ita more comparable to A Night To Remember than anything.   I partly agree. However it also has to be considered that it is much more difficult to get a number one nowadays since more factors play a role in Charts  (streaming, digital and physical sales, radio) unlike 10 to 20 years ago where there was just radio and physical sales. If you lack one of these factors nowadays it is almost impossible to top the Charts.... That is the reason why I would say that many years ago it was much easier to maintain a successful career compared to today. Britney and Madonna had it much easier I would say.... I think it's easier to manipulate today's charts. Streams can be bought. Music is way more accessible today. Back in those days people had to actually go out and buy them. Singles were usually $3.49 in the 90s. CD's were 20 bucks on sale.
