It's hard to care about your fellow man but it's the easiest thing in the world to throw your hands up and do whatever you want 'cause you couldn't care less if you tried. What Gaga's doing now (which is exactly what she's always done) takes true strength. If you ask me, it's the people that can't take into consideration others' feelings, experiences, and thoughts that are the ones who aren't prepared to be a functional part of society 13 hours ago, ArtPLAUSE said: Now I am in a situation where I do love Gaga, just like I do love long-time friends, but I dont really see the point in what she's doing, in why she's doing in, and I find it hard to even believe she's completely sincere with what she says about herself. You may not see the point in her activism but for those of us that have been through traumatic experiences or that live with mental illness, it means more than words can express to have someone of her stature, someone we admire and love, stand up for those causes. It takes a lot to cope with those issues and to continue living with them, which I'm sure you already know It's good that you haven't let that detachment (I guess that's what you'd call it?) ruin your love for her though. I can appreciate that 🌸Flourishing and vibrant🌼
PopThatArt 2,193
I hear that, about the not wanting to always be kind, but if you don't see the point in what Gaga is doing now, do you see the point of what mainstream popstars are doing? Just wondering? Because to me, it's all of them and their stuff that seems pointless to me. Not what Gaga is doing. Go see A Star is Born

If you like TFM era the most, go listen to that album and watch interviews and concerts from that period. She's allowed to grow up, gain experience, change her mind and speak her mind. Crying in every tv appearance is exaggeration. She's always been very emotional and she doesn't need your permission to express herself.   Why exactly wouldn't it make sense? Is this site called GagabutonlyforpeoplewhoconsiderJoannetobeherbesteratodateDaily? When did I say she is not allowed to express herself? I am literally asking how us (fans) dealt with her shift in attitude, meaning that I consider her right to change implicit. Of course she doesn't cry in EVERY interview, but if you compare Gaga during 2008-10 (12) to Gaga now, you can't deny she's changed, became more preachy and more, I don't know, sensible? They are releasing pop music THIS IS NOT A COMPARISON but, has Madonna ever been so preachy, referred to herself as a missionary, etc? Yet, she's had a social impact on society (as much as a popstar can). This is just to say that you don't have to act as Gaga is acting to make the world a better place. It is why I liked Gaga's attitude at first, changing the world one sequin at a time, and I don't really recognize her anymore now.

You lack empathy? - I became a Gaga fan in 2008. From 2008 to 2010 (and to a certain extent, 2012), she had a very badass attitude. She still had an opinion on many social issues, but she believed in the strength of her arguments, and in her ability to convey her message by exploiting the dominant, individualist, capitalist etc. culture. - As time passed, Gaga became more and more detached to that cultural model, and now she is personally mainly focused on preaching kindness, trying to raise awareness on an ever-increasing number of topics, advocating for compassion etc. - in a very political and élitist way, that hardly corresponds with everyone's life experiences -I am not implying she is not allowed to become preachy, what I am asking is how people who became fans of the "original" Gaga dealt with that major shift in her narration (and in that sense, I really don't understand replies from people who say themselves they became fans during AP. She had already changed, the question was clearly not aimed at them, but w/e).
Creyk 17,805
Now that she doesn't have chart success it doesn't matter what she does. Her influence is getting weaker and weaker  by the day. Let her do her thing, it's not like she can affect  change anymore.
MEDONER 1,676
Tbh right now she's not even that bad compared to Born This Way era, maaaan that has been a hard time for me as a fan. Not only she started looking like a parody of herself but the whole Mother Monster bullshìt, preaching in every single interview and whatever it made me cringe so much I questioned myself if it was any good to be a fan of someone who I couldn't recognize anymore. That said in the end I "survived" because of her undeniable talent and because I still love that 2008 girl with a dream bigger than life and a fire in herself that allowed her to make it and prove the haters and doubters they were wrong. In a way it was a necessary evil because I grew out of it, today if I see something she does/says I don't like, I just ignore it and move on and concentrate on the things I still love about her. Gabi 685
i cope with it by ignoring thing she says in interviews, shes always contradicting herself so i dont find her reliable, u should focus on performances =) and her preachy attitude, imo, its because she realized that most of her fanbase are children and they believe eerything she says, so why not spread a good message? i find it boring too, but i believe in the lady goods intentions

Uhm I'm not sure I agree, because during BTW she was preachy, but it sort of looked like a proof of strength. She managed to rise within the pop scene so quickly that she had the power to dictate the narration. In that sense, it is very much understandable that, since she was able to make headlines with every interview, she decided to spread her message in a direct way Now, she has already conveyed her message for years, and she is still doing so, using a rethoric that's more and more detached to FameGa. 1 minute ago, Whispering said: Explains so much. Explains nothing, because I don't use 4chan. ooo 407
look, OP of this thread, i question some changes in her too. i used to be like gaga with her badass focused attitude like you described from 08-10/12. and then i went through two episodes that lead me to being diagnosed with bipolar disorder. after that, after being in involuntary treatment twice...it changed me. i question everything about myself now, i also get stuck in head cycles, a similar smell to oranges can trigger me, my anxiety is through the roof, a lot of times i can't make it out of my house to go to work even though i have been stable on meds for 2 years now. its hard and i have relaized what i feel is only a fragment of what lady gaga feels. and so going through a very stressful, manic time for years changes you & thats what happened to her. she has anxiety, depression, and now complex ptsd. so it means the world to me that she can stand up every day and be who she is. i live by the motto that just bc you have "insert mental illnesses here" doesn't mean you have the right to be an asshole because of it. i get where you're coming from, not everything has to be preachy and kindess everywhere. but in light of what is happening around the world...its very powerful & i have a feeling she's just getting started.
