That trust I had for Gaga's vision seems to be gone. I feel like what bothered me was how Gaga described this era's music videos as not just about visuals, but about her life story. So...are songs like A-yo and John Wayne supposed to be about her life story? If so I haven't really learnt a lot about her life... What if she released them as singles? How are the music videos going to look like? Will it have to show the experiences that influenced the songs in detail? I don't want a music video for Dancin' in Circles where it shows her rubbing her vag in her bathroom, but that's how it is going to be if she goes by her words. You see, these single-worthy songs are not exactly the deepest or the most meaningful. They are fun, entertaining bops that the masses can simply enjoy. You don't have to squeeze some meaning out of it for the sake of making the videos 'personal'. The visuals can bring out the message of the song and also be engaging at the same time. Also, I honestly don't like this concept, because if the last video isn't good, it's going to drag down the next one, and the next one... It's not like Lemonade, where it's one full complete body, unless the concept here is supposed to be about her 'life story', which like I've said, won't turn out well. I just hope Gaga isn't lying when she said she has a clear perspective. Even though it might be a concept I don't like, it would at least be much better than a concept that's sloppily executed... People were going crazy thinking the album was country and she said that people should meditate because it wasn't even out yet. We have no idea what the third single is going to even be, nevermind what the video might look like. I'm interested to see how the next single/video is going to transition from the MR video. Will it be her finishing her performance in front of the screen and transitioning into something more personal?? I don't now, but for know, we don't really know much. Clearly the music is accepted, but the videos are not (by fans), which is understandable. This transitioning thing...unless the next video is closely similar, it's going to look forced. The songs aren't even related, and neither do the videos have to be. If the next video is A-YO, which is totally different from MR, why try to force in an unnecessary transition? And if they are similar, there's will be a lack of variety. It messes up everything tbh. You can't blame the fans and the whole world, after all it's her who set the standard for every pop video this decade. As someone considered a master of the video artform she somehow has duties to always create something interesting. I get it she wants it to be personal, but that doesn't mean she has to sacrifice artistic value., like Lemonade. But if this is what she wants then we'll just have to wait and see.
