It's one thing having a song that has an explicit message but with an innocent sounding metaphor (peacock for exampl). That's radio 'friendly'. I LOVE dancing in circles but (and maybe radio is different where you are) but a song won't get a lot of spins during peak hours if it's talking about swirling your hands your cl*t, beating around rubbing the pain out and  funking downtown

why do you think they only play the edited version of poker face now? The explicitness in that was hidden to the casual listener but because the word got out they don't play it anymore.

Did you consider Work friendly? Because I didn't and it was a worldwide hit.

It kind of is to the gp though. for example kids don't know what she means by work or people who dont know that innuendo.

Omg then the gp will love DIC. Why do you keep contracting yourself. Just say you don't like the song and cased closer

I dont see why theres so many threads saying DIC is not radio friendly?  Have you not heard what else is on the radio.  Its not any less radio friendly than whats already playing. Although, I love the song I think A-Yo and Diamond Heart will be the next 2 singles.

The title is the only innuendo.

As I said before. Have them play the **** her face version of poker face again if the gp radio is so 'friendly'...

DiC would be the Kiss It Better/G.U.Y. of Joanne. A fan-favorite everyone claims is a "sure fire hit" but when it actually comes out as a single, it will flop so hard that everyone who pushed for it to be a single will pretend like they didn't like the song at all in the first place.

The current version of DIC will not work.. maybe a shorter radio edit and without the scream can work.

Yeah, the whole vibe of the song just couldn't be big on radio. It's hippie sounding, with Eastern influences, like something out of the Free Love era. You could imagine a bunch of people chanting around a cauldron to this song. But that type of song isn't all over the radio. And remember the little nod to Uptown Funk in it? She can't be accused of plagiarism anymore.

Then there's the video. I imagine lots of women in floaty dresses in a field doing ceremonial dancing when I hear it. But there's no way that's what she'll actually go for. The song is too on the nose to show any other kind of imagery and she can't do with a restricted video when her regular videos are struggling to get views as it is.

Lastly, the lyrics. Of course dirty songs can be big on radio but they're usually shrouded in metaphors. DIC makes it completely obvious. The only hidden meaning is in the name of the song itself, everything else is obvious. I mean, the opening verse is "I lay around, touch myself to pass the time." You can't make it clearer than that. Then once that's over, you have to factor in "up all night trying to rub the pain out," and "swirl around as if I'm someone else, your hands are mine," "pretend I'm you until it clicks," and "all the things that are on my mind vanish as I touch myself." One line is one thing, multiple lines are another. You are getting graphic visions when you hear this stuff. It'll have to be edited to stand a chance and it won't sound as good then. Yes, there is a case for saying that Side To Side is big on the charts and radio right now but that's different. It's Nicki saying the most explicit stuff (which could still be worse) and we accept dirty so much better when it comes from a rapper because that's just what they do, the lyrics don't dream up any graphic thoughts and the innuendo is extremely subtle. I mean, I'm the queen of spotting innuendo and find dirtiness in stuff that no one else can. But honestly, it wasn't until Side To Side had been a single for a few weeks and I saw this in the comment section: "This song is about being f***ed so hard you can't walk straight afterwards" that I even realised what she meant. Up until that moment, I was totally thinking that she meant that he's got her in a moral dilemma because he's a bad boy but his loving is so good, so she's going back and forth, or side to side, over staying or leaving. So, if even I didn't spot the true meaning until it was spelled out to me, I'm sure it'll pass a lot of people by on the radio. DIC, not so.

Oh, yeah, and for those saying that there's weird songs all over the radio...most of them are from one hit wonders and new artists who are still finding their feet. That's the only kind of people who the public seem to accept weird songs from. Plus, Gaga's never really had hits with weird songs unless you count the quite risky industrial sound of Bad Romance and the name checking of marginalised groups on Born This Way, but she was at her peak, so she could get away with it. She can't get hits with weird songs anymore, that much is true.

Sorry but that song would ruin her career. It's the least radio friendly. Lyric wise and the beat isn't catchy.

Lace up my boots, throw on some leather and cruise.
