Bradley 59,545
Let's let King John Wayne rise first, shall we? Those synths are gonna get the audience popping at the Superbowl.

It doesn't matter if Gaga is not at her peak, she can still release. Is it going to see success? Not if the single preceding it flops, if there ever is a single preceding it after Million Reasons. I think it's trivial to make these hypothetical assumptions and situations. If it was something like Scheiße, I would agree with you, but Dancin in Circles is acceptable if Gaga can talk about disco sticks, ear condoms, doing what she wants with her body. Pop can be explicit as any other genre can be, and Dancin in Circles will find some radio success under certain conditions and circumstances which depend on the prior success of a single Next you're gonna tell me John Wayne is too explicit for radio because it talks about sex and drug use? There are so many songs that are explicit and make it big on radio. Radios are not as prudish as you are making them out to be. What do you make of Side to Side? Are you going to say Ariana is at her peak? She's already peaked by your definition of peak if you consider LoveGame to be when Gaga was at her peak; by that assertion Ariana was at her peak with Problem I don't know, I just feel as if you're trying to make certain assertions which put you in the right, and instead of looking at the reality at hand and the industry at hand, you're trying to think like a literal soccer mom which is not how the industry works and is not the audience Gaga is trying to go after with Dancin in Circles, more so with Joanne as a whole Disco stick was one line. Ear condom was one line. And DWUW was an RnB song featuring a rap meaning it was more acceptable to be dirty (and it didn't even go top ten in the US). Do you really think she can promote this song on daytime shows, family shows? It certainly won't be played on the radio during peak time when parents are doing the school run and if it did, they'd switch it off as it wouldn't be appropriate for their kids to hear. I really don't like it when artists go for raunchy choices for singles as it means I have to shirk away in embarrassment if it comes on around my parents and we can't enjoy it together because you can't enjoy a sex song with your family. And then there's an innocent one who asks what it means... No, I don't think John Wayne is too explicit for radio. I actually would like that to be a single, along with A-Yo and Diamond Heart (and Angel Down but I know that probably won't happen). If you look back at previous pages, I mention what I think about Side To Side - that I think its true intentions are covered up well with innuendo (I didn't even catch the true meaning until it was spelled out to me) and the dirtiest parts are left to Nicki to say and people accept it because she's a rapper. If it was any more explicit and it was sweet Ariana was little girl fans singing this dirty stuff, it would be a different story. I am being realistic and looking at the industry as a whole. The only truly dirty songs the world can make successful these days are urban songs because they're acceptable to be dirty. Plus, such songs do really well in America because rap and urban radio is massive and fans of the genre are extremely loyal, that plus a much bigger population makes for a hit with a surprisingly risque song. But worldwide, urban radio isn't as big a deal and urban doesn't have such a devoted following. That's why, for example, Rihanna's Needed Me went top ten in the US but barely cracked top 40 in the UK despite Rihanna's large fanbase here. The US was the only country in which it went top 10, it flopped worldwide. What even makes you think that Gaga wants it for a single? It's one of the few songs that she's paid dust to so far. Also, it would be the third single this era that involves her break up in some way. It's time to move on. 10 hours ago, Aussie said: It has nothing to do with DIC not being radio friendly. When Nicky Minaj's Anaconda, and songs like Side to Side and even Katy Perry's 'E.T.' (with Kanye sexualised rap) play at McDonald's here in Australia, you know its all changed. The reason why Dancing in Circles shouldn't be a first or second single is because its topic does NOT suit the Joanne message, or what Gaga has been speaking about in Interviews over her family and their story. That's what I think too (though I've certainly never heard Anaconda in McDonalds!) Gaga has spoken a few times now about how the album is very personal and is about a family connection. If she releases a sex song after saying all that, it's like she's going back on her word and the public will say she's full of it. Out of all the songs on the album, it definitely isn't the one that screams "buy this album." In the current era of the only albums selling being mature ones about real emotions, I don't think Gaga can afford to put out such a song. It seems like a sell-out move after previously putting out the emotional Million Reasons. It'll be like "Oh, here she goes, back to shock value again." Gaga could do with a bit less controversy right now and she's benefitting hugely from this restrained, demure makeover. I mean, if Madonna went through a conservative makeover after the world suffered from shock fatigue, so should Gaga. Gaga needs to prove that she can sell music without doing crazy, shocking things that are full of pizzazz. It'll win her so much more praise and respect as an artist. The GP is not here for a song about female masturbation for Lady Gaga of all people... If it was jusr that maybe it would have a chance at being a moderate hit But she makes a creepy voice tone in parts of the song and the instrumental rigbt after the part where she says "lets funk downtown" sounds really strange im not saying i dont like it, i do... but i dont see the GP liking it tbh Also the only good thing about this era is her immage rebuilding. Like, the GP is not and will never be here for songs about power bottoming or female masturbation. Lol nope sorry but those songs BLATANTLY set themselves up for failure. DIC is probably the worst single choice on the album. The GP does not think about Gaga in a sexy way!!!! She's that gross lady that wore RAW BEEF as a dress and rolls around is gross pregancncy fluid on stage! bornthisway135 617
I don't see how a lot of you think Diamond Heart would get radio play... LOL. I LOVE that song, but it would flop so hard if it were released. Dancin' in Circles would get a lot of radio play though. It's Indian-type flare is hypnotic enough to get through to the general public. John Wayne, too. However, John Wayne would get more airplay on country radio.
