Britney has stayed so relevant for nearly two decades because she never strays too far from what the public want from her which is good pop music. Everyone loves Britney she is the ultimate pop star hit after hit. Glory is a massive return to form a uk #2 album following Britney jeans #34 peak . Britney listens to what people want and that's why it still works for her. I love Gaga the fame is the ultimate pop album the fame monster even better Imo, born this way was an experimental record with an iconic message, ARTPOP was also experimental not so much pop but more electronic clunk and junk, I enjoy ARTPOP when I'm drunk but its not easy to listen to in a morning gaga has lost that pleasant cool quality and has gone for increasingly rough jagged sounds, c2c was fun, Joanne I like the album I like most of the songs but it just doesn't feel all that gaga to me it feels ANTI pop like she is still rebelling against pop culture after like continuous years. I love gaga to experiment with different sounds and genres but I want her to not fully neglect what made her popular in the first place. She ran the pop game. I just hope we can see more britney-esque pop from gaga soon.

First of all she's not the ultimate artist. Her dancing is so robotic nd her live performances since 2007 have been trash. And I literally CACKLED at 'Britney is an indestructible chameleon' like really? The woman has been doing the exact same **** since she was 17

Britney's new work hasn't been a chart or sales success, despite its mainstream nature, though. She hasn't had a hit in nearly 6 years. Making money from touring wasn't an option, so she had to stick to residency shows. And her international promotion has tapered right off because she just doesn't sell internationally anymore.

I say all this as a Britney fan myself. I'm just not delusional. Being generic and making 'bops' doesn't necessarily get you anywhere these days, especially when you're Britney's age and you've got 2 kids. When you're a female in your 30's in the music world, you've got to show real growth and maturity with your work or you don't stand a chance of getting hits anymore. What pays off when you're young (being generic) doesn't pay off when you're older. Remember that the fans that you'll have left by that time will be your age or thereabouts. They likely won't want to listen to generic music that sounds like it was made for an 18 year old with limited life experience. That's why Madonna's music doesn't sell anymore. Almost all her fans are middle aged like her and as a result, they know that the music she's making just doesn't match up to her age and life status. They want to listen to an artist who reflects them somewhat and she can't provide that because she's too focused on trying to appeal to the young crowd who aren't here for her anyway. Gaga's doing the right thing by making her music mature from an early age. That will stand her in good stead in years to come.

I'm pissed too right now bc of what she tried to sell us as a music viedeo. But being like Britney? Girl, Gaga is miles a head of her. She's more talented and Joanne is better and more interesting than Glory.

And Britney definitely doesn't have more mainstream success than Gaga
