Did the ARTPOP backlash destroy Gaga her creativity?

no, I don't thin so.... she's just creative about some things, and lazy about others (videos)

But I still don't understand why the people around her are not creative when doing the videos.... I mean, even if she was lazy and not interested, somebody could still make beautiful images, lights, editing etc.... she could just show up

I agree with this a LOT. I also think some artists, after becoming famous, they loose their drive. Nevertheless, I don't think Gaga has. 

This is a more mundane era because she needed to do it like this to prove herself for GP after the (lets be honest) flop that ARTPOP was. Gaga was seen as an entertainer more than an artist. Ppl never thought she was art during BTW, TF or TFM. After ARTPOP, ppl though she was even less "art".

Joanne and this whole era, how she's doing it, it's a bridge to be waaaay more likeable and credible when the next "Era of the Bops" come.

This is something that gaga needs. I am angry at the MR video. I thought it would make the song grow on me but it just made me unlike it. I am also a little dissapointed for the looks.

Anyhow, Gaga needed to do this to clean her image, not for us, but for general public. Its been like 8 years already.

No I just think she wants us and the gp to crave ha craziness. This is just how she feels atm doesn't mean she's never gonna go back to the craziness we know and love I know gaga's never been afraid . Remember  ha quote  when they think they know who Lady Gaga is, I want to remind them that they don't.

Why? Because this happened to ARTPOP? All the ARTPOPsters are terrified and convinced we will suffer the same fate.

ARTPOP died due to gaga having a breakdown, then trying to come back and flip flopping. Joanne is not like this. Get over it.

Creativity comes in many forms, in this case she's clearly depicting her struggles after she decided to go out of the box, realizing that people started to leave her after the good times were over. I'd say that's more creative that putting on 10 inch heels and doing whatever you all wanted her to do

What if being stripped down is another step in her creativity? I mean, she has never been so "pure" so far until this album, and nobody would have expected this from her like 4 o 5 years ago, with Gaga you simply don't know what to expect and if you expect something, she clocks you with the opposite. That's what I've understood, especially since yesterday, and that's what i love of her.

I think the criticism affected her, and who she chose to surround herself with. The issue now is that she's not collaborating for her art. It's the same few people surrounding her telling her everything is good and fine. She needs to push the envelope and limit of pop culture like she used to. She needs to be inspired by new fashion, elevated photographers, new themes.

And I think Hollywood changed her a lot. If you're going to be starring in a film with Bradley Cooper, or on AHS, you're not going to show up to a meeting wearing McQueen platforms and a bikini. She's toned it down in order to progress as an actress and performer. 

She's sort of stuck in limbo I feel. However, she'll always be creative.

This is exactly it. Her fans make it seem like it has to be avant garde to be creative. That's not the case. The musical content of this album is WAY different for her. I don't think it's dialed down, I think it's just different.

Or she is still evolving and and finding herself atm by trying new things within each album. Its called growing up and broadening your horizons. Who's to say the next album won't be crazy fashion and over the top visuals anyway. I like that she is unpredictable, and staying true to the joanne vision rather than jumping ship because her fans don't like it.

i am so relieved by the comments on this thread tho. I'm glad as gaga fans, we frew up with her music and now shes making us grow up with her too. Glad we brush off all the pricks that came with the BTW era
