Head Empty 25,072
I don't think it's intentional. Those stylistic devices work well for longer pieces of film, but not for a 4 minute music video. Its on purpose to be more visually interesting. Being visually interesting seems to me was the last thing they cared about with this video

I can't name the narrative device they're using, but the idea is that at first you just sort of see 'hints' about what's going on - little snapshots that aren't obviously related - and then at the end you see everything in chronological order. If you watch the movie "Wild" (with Reese Witherspoon, based on the book of the same name), they use this device as well. That's just one of many examples. The point is that things are kind of confusing and abstract at first, but then you get the full picture later and you have that sort of "ah-ha" moment when everything falls into place. Yeah it kept a sense of mystery or kept you seeking an explanation of what was going on. It threw me off a bit watching it the first time not her being picked up twice but her opening the box/singing in reaction to the contents flashing back and forth. It was better the second time for me. Off topic but that book and movie are so good
